I'd need to have three different sprites for each 'Mech and vehicle in the company because they may change lances from mission to mission, so that would be less than ideal.

Voted Vaporwave, because while I think the wasp camo owns, a Merc's gotta be as over the top flashy as possible.

clearly Wolf, being the ace, just gets their own custom paint job for their mech. I'm not sure how much faster pastel blue makes you though. 78rpm, maybe?

Half the mechs get one and half get the other, with zero association to what lance they end up in. The mercenaries can spin a story about how these were the custom paintjobs of sadly departed founders Hayard and Gunnes, respectively, who held equal stakes in the company and refused to back down on the issue until both of them died tragically and simultaneously in battle, leaving the issue permanently unsolved.

The Enterprise was a technological marvel with engines that were a huge technological leap forward. It's just a pity they hosed up the exhaust venting so badly it couldn't generate enough thrust to move in space
|
# ? Apr 24, 2022 20:32 |
|
Well, that's what you get when you design engines for a ship and then you quadruple it in size
|
# ? Apr 25, 2022 01:01 |
|
And glue half of the added weight in the way of the engines so they have to pipe the exhaust all over the place. I guess it'd be saner to say there was some actual thrust coming out of the whole mess but it was just so dismally weak it was virtually useless, but this is battletech and battletech physics are what they are.

Downtime 1-3 Major Downtime Action: Combat Drills The Bought and Paid For vanished into a cloudbank, its powerful thrusters boring a hole through vapor and cast a scattered, ghostly blue light as the hole closed in behind the passing vessel. Shahrazad was off already, with a load of condensed food bars destined for Xi Ursae Majoris. “Company, at ease!” Raniya ordered over their Stormwolf’s loudspeakers. The assembled BattleMechs of Hayard-Gunnes Inc. dropped their smart salutes. Saluting in a BattleMech wasn’t always the easiest things, a fair number of the company’s ‘Mechs didn’t have the necessary actuators—but a skilled warrior could still make a ‘Mech look alert, and the company’s warriors were skilled enough to pull it off. Or at least skilled enough to make their machines look more relaxed when told to stand at-ease. “Split off by lances and withdraw to your staging areas for the exercise,” Raniya ordered over the company’s channels while they kicked their Stormwolf up to cruising speed. For the purposes of the exercise, the weaponry of the scout and cavalry lances had been loaded with harmless fireworks, low-powered training munitions, and the lasers’ power had been cut enough to give an unlucky bystander the worst sunburn they’d ever had and some unfortunate eye damage. Command lance, by contrast, was fully armed and combat loaded—a fact Raniya had been more than willing to let circulate prior to their drill. That should prove more than enough deterrence for the local banditry, while also discouraging some of the company’s more argumentative warriors from picking fights with one another. They leveled their weapons at the scout ‘Mechs a kilometer distant. Cavalry lance should make short work of them, but each lance had a different goal for the exercise. Cavalry lance was tasked to intercept and ‘destroy’ Scout Lance, while Scout Lance was tasked with evasion and slipping one of their own into Cavalry Lance’s deployment zone. “Let’s do this—begin the exercise!” Random Event Vote Results Unit colors updated! I'm voting on the staff to hire, and it looks like I have to select 3 choices- Should I just vote for the two I want and then hire no one as a third? Seems a little counter intuitive. Anyhow though, I'm voting for Habib and Sudhir. Always having at least one good contract on offer seems very very useful, as does ensuring that any pilot injuries or losses result in us getting something monetarily useful to potentially see us through some downtime due to lack of warriors to field. I don't want to hire two 3 cost staff yet, that would put our reserves too dangerously low. Gwaihir fucked around with this message at 00:07 on Apr 28, 2022 |
