Michael Bunting gonna play tonight, will be interesting to see if Keefe goes back to the usual lines or keeps some of them in place considering how game 1 went. Either way someone’s gonna get bumped to the 4th line and it better not be Engvall.

Bunting gets his spot back, Kerfoot back with JT and Kase to the fourth. Still Simmonds instead of Spezza though.

So I only caught the third period of Flames/Stars, did Bowness put Robertson on a line with Seguin and Radulov? More directly, did the coach of a one-line team break up his only good line in game one of the playoffs and not reunite them when the team needed one (1) goal? Seems pretty galaxy brained.

I think the only way Spezza gets in the lineup is if something happens to one of the other centres, it's pretty clear Keefe wants someone who can punch on the team and with Kase healthy for now there's actually not a lot of space on the roster.

He's not a good coach! Regardless, the Stars will find a way to power through and take this series and more!

Yeah, that’s true. I wasn’t expecting Spezza in, just what I’d want to see. With Bunting back, that’s 11 guys who I don’t think should come out barring injuries with only the Simmonds spot as a flex. If the refs keep calling the series tight, Spezza could be useful as a PP2 specialist though.

I am pleased that it has been noted by the team affiliated media and broadcasters that Rick Bowness and Jim Nill were blowing a lot of smoke earlier this year about how the team being poo poo in the regular season didn't matter because the Stars are "built for playoff hockey" - that the only thing that mattered was getting any spot in the playoffs because the Stars would evolve into their real form and become a legitimate contender for the Stanley Cup once "playoff hockey" commenced.

The line is now set that if the Stars faceplant in this series (which is kind of unfair because Calgary is a really drat good team, clearly on the same level as Colorado and the top teams in the Eastern Conference) then their organizational philosophy has been proven to be a failure and major systemic changes are needed.

The AHL playoffs start today too and the divisions are all different sizes to minimize travel costs for the teams so the playoff bracket is interesting-looking

a bunch of best-of-3 playoff rounds all hosted at the higher-seeded team, then a re-seeding of the teams that qualified after play-in round, and then a normal best-of-7 series. 23 of the 31 AHL teams are in it.

lol, they have four divisions of 8, 7, 7, and 9 teams, and the bottom 2 in each division miss the playoffs. So the Marlies with 79 points didn't make it, but 6 other teams with fewer points did (including the Gulls with 63 points). Somehow they devised an even shittier system than the NHL.

Yeah not to mention that some teams play fewer games than others... so like for the first 3 seasons the "Pacific Division" existed the Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage were grouped in there competing on points percentage with the California teams that played 8 fewer games in their schedule over the same time period..

now the Pacific division teams are still playing only 68 games, but the rest of the league seem to get to choose whether to play 72 or 76 games? very strange..

That's true. If I don't notice him, that means he is also not being too much of a negative.

He averaged less than 10 minutes a game in the season, so it's not like we are discussing him being put into a role he is unable to handle.
