Sigh my periods over back to not having any energy

My period was supposed to start 5 days ago, but it has not. I'm usually like clockwork. Very very unlikely I'm pregnant (like into less than a percent, but I can't rule it out completely because I'm neurotic), but it's annoying . Been a bit stressed, and I dropped Spiro for acne in the past month so maybe it's just my hormones are all fucky. Either way, today is the end of when my period is supposed to be, so I'll pregnancy test soon I guess. Ugh.

The worst things trigger me in the days before my period; instead of weeping over sad poo poo, some of the dumbest things make me Hulk out. Like one of my cats cleaning himself. Just sitting by me, and every loving lick sounds like it's in my ear. If I leave, he follows me. If I tell him to stop it, usually he will splay out and lick his rear end and then spit fur out and the sounds of it make me think I'm Dolores from Encanto and every sound is an icepick in my brain. This entire week I've felt like this, so it's coming in a few days. And with it, the anxiety of everyone hates me and I suck and nothing is worth it and why do I go to work why do I bother with anything, goes up and up and then poof, gone. Usually because a cat is licking himself, or someone on TV is mashing their face to another person's. Somehow loving porn isn't that annoying with sounds. And then when I need a break, I'll watch the Prometheus clip of Shaw's alien abortion/C section and wish I had a machine that could just rip all this poo poo out of me. Only once did I get the horny hormones a week before my period started, and drat that was nice, far nicer than this, because I was far more hyped and ready to get through the day to take care of myself at home. Nothing bugged me. Alas my body decided going anxiety/why does everything annoy me is far better.

Apparently some people who are pregnant see a suppression in their autoimmune problems for the duration.

The good news is that I'm not pregnant. Annoyingly, still no period. I'm almost 35 and part of me wonders if this is just nature being natural and this will just sometimes happen now?

When I was in my early 30s my periods stopped for six months and it turned out to be that one of my parathyroid glands had gone rogue and my hormones were all hosed up and I had to have an operation. The perimenopause *does* make your cycle go completely hosed up but it might be a bit early for that for you, depending. If it happens more than once or twice get it checked out, I reckon.

I have tidied the whole kitchen today, made veggie burgers from scratch, made a carrot cake, and been to the supermarket to get a refund on the weird panty liner incontinence pad things things my boyfriend came back with when I sent him in yesterday. I have cleaned the sink and the draining board, this rarely happens. I wish I felt this energetic all the time, but it may just be due to the two packets of sweets I ate yesterday.

Woo, second period, right on schedule. Misread my app and had it it my head it was starting Thursday, instead it slammed me yesterday. Which was poor timing. Speaking of, anyone got a recommendation for an android app that tracks that isn't absolutely stuffed full of ads and/or begs you to subscribe to their premium model?

I bought the premium one time payment thing because it was very useful and had places to document stuff, but I don't think it was required. The base thing has ads at the bottom, pretty unobtrusive. It's been a couple years though so I don't know if it got more aggressive, but give it a try!

The one I was using made you watch a 5 second ad just to open it. Edit: and hey, let's me hide the fertility and ovulation information too, that's nice since they aren't terribly relevant to me! I like it! Fashionable Jorts fucked around with this message at 05:13 on Apr 27, 2022 |

This is the same one I have and I also paid for premium because it's legit a really good app. It's simple and it is clear and the widgets are good. Might be android only though

Before this week I had legit thought about a period tracker app being something I would make as babbys first app because I was fed up with Clue nagging me to make an account so they could deanonymize my data. Maybe I need to revisit this idea.

I eventually just uninstalled Clue and started using MyCalendar. I had like 3 different period apps installed at the same time for a while to see what worked best and MyCalendar was good enough, doesn't appear to be any kind of account/cloud storage they offer at all. I don't think I tried out P Tracker.

I use a paper calendar because I like to colour in squares, but also mines more for 'how long has it been since my last one, do I need to take progesterone' rather than anticipating future cycles

Clue makes my phone go "boop" every day at 8pm. You can add stuff like "had sex" or "light spotting" or whatever from a preset list and it's kinda useful to be able to look back over the shape of how things are going. Predictions can be useful too if you're pretty regular.

I started it up so I could track my PMDD symptoms and confirm their association with my cycle. My cycle length is completely erratic nowadays so predictions are garbage but I bet they're nice for some folk.

I honestly only use it to get an alert that my period is starting soon. I suppose I could do that with Google Calendar too but I do also have a custom alert set up to remind me to do a breast self exam two weeks after my period is over. For some reason none of these apps have that as a standard option. It will totally be one in the app I'll probably never actually get around to making myself.

Like when I’m extremely stressed I’ll get a flare up as well. Just need to figure out how to best mitigate it.
