Sorry for Cummings posting but I had no idea this was a thing. I guess it’s not that shocking that the media haven’t reported it. https://twitter.com/Dominic2306/status/1524394482938093571?s=20 https://bylinetimes.com/2022/03/08/government-refuses-to-reveal-taxpayer-cost-of-secret-covid-subsidy-for-its-wealthy-press-friends/

And their courts have fined landlords who tried that excuse but did not follow through.

Ms Adequate posted:Being from Norn Iron I can confirm that Derry Girls is both hilarious and extremely accurate. The accuracy is here and there. Like the disadvantage of setting it in a very specific time period is when the play some 90's songs, I get distracted because all I think is "this song came out in 1995. But everything else about this episode says 1993." And I know that's something almost all period media has, but it's far more noticiable since it's the media from our childhood. The worst example of this is the end of the first season where the cast take part in a talent show. Intercut with the adults watching the Omagh bombing and basically vowing to protect their kids from the violence and hatred. A noble sentiment, however if you were alive back then you'd remember that the Omagh bombing took place on a Saturday* which begs the question of why are the kids in school doing a talent show. Now I accept this is just my pedantry, but it's the little things that stand out the most. *= The fact that it happened on a Saturday was why the bombing was so devastating.

Derry Girls has gotten pretty shite in the new season imo. My main problem has always been that it drops 90s bangers but you only hear like 2 seconds of them, a frustrating experience

stev posted:Your school never had events and poo poo on at the weekends? No. Like maybe the very odd "kids from these classes are going to pack shopping bags in the local supermarket to raise money for charity" thing. Occasionally a mention of kids who were on a local football team playing a game and asking people to show up to cheer them on. But that was the extent of it. Are you saying that kids had to go into school on the weekend? And wear uniforms on a Saturday? I thought that was just some American invention for TV.
