why did Biden spend decades trying to be president? trump obviously just wanted attention and to be the #1 most important guy in the world. i remember during one of the debates there was a question to biden about what he would do about the novel coronavirus and he said that trump had done a terrible job and had no idea what he was doing, but that if joe were president he would take bold, decisive action of asking all the experts what they think and then do what they say (which is of course what trump was doing for the first few weeks before he defected to the side of the virus)

On September 17, 2014, Patrick fired the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board chair Saundra Edwards and placed director Jeanne Holmes on paid administrative leave because they had pressured the board to force Bernard Sigh – Patrick's brother-in-law – to register as a sex offender. Sigh had pleaded guilty to raping his wife (Patrick's sister) in California in 1993 and neglected to register as a sex offender when he later moved to Massachusetts.[93] Sigh assaulted his wife again in 2017; in June 2019 he was convicted of rape, stalking, kidnapping, and witness intimidation.[94] In November 2019, Patrick spoke to the NH Journal about having intervened to help keep his brother-in-law off the sex offender registry, saying, "No, I don't have any regrets. [...] I stuck up for him then because that was respectful of my sister and I think it was the right thing to do."[95]

I agree that he should be set free during the last half of his term to say what he wants

e: also from this article:

Multiple people close to the White House said they’ve heard that chief of staff Ron Klain will depart at some point after the midterms, and one has heard him discuss leaving.

Should Klain go, a potential successor is Anita Dunn, a White House adviser and Biden confidant whom he often turns to when his fortunes look bleak.

I knew I had heard that name before so I went looking and

A former top adviser to Barack Obama was among the list of public relations professionals and lawyers consulting Harvey Weinstein over a major New York Times story, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Anita Dunn, a top Obama campaign staffer and former White House communications director, helped offer damage control advice for the Hollywood mogul.

remember that biden only won because the center-right corporatist establishment at the DNC desperately needed to ratfuck bernie and biden was the only candidate that they could plausibly frame as the winner and manufacture consent for. no one wants biden to be president, including himself, but they REALLY didn't want bernie to be president

I mean, part of the problem with Biden is that he wasn't even particularly plausible as an immediate "unity" candidate; at the time the anointment happened, he was second in delegates almost entirely off the back of the first big state, second-third in state wins, and hanging with Klob or Warren at third-fifth in vote share or delegates from competitive states in the general.

Best strategy on debt is to push it back a couple years and let the next administration deal with it.

Yeah, they wanted Twitter libs to hate it, which they did, so that they'd have a plausible way to turn around and whine that "There's just no public support for this!". People who weren't welded to the Dems didn't fall for it at all, but it'll still probably be used as a rationale for doing nothing.

Biden brought in the black vote (in states that haven't gone democratic in 30 years) so he's the natural unity candidate :colbert:

"I want to let the process play out and see what the American people decide before I make my call."

"If Biden really is The Most Progressive President in American History, looking at his approval ratings, it looks like progressive policies really are deeply unpopular and we should embrace Republican policies since they embody what Americans really want."

I'm still to hear a reason why democrats think Kamala wouldn't immediately get bounced due to not meeting the citizenship requirement for the presidency. At the time she was born people born on us soil in her circumstance weren't automatically given citizenship and you are essentially throwing yourself at the mercy of the supreme Court to get a ruling that she is constitutionally acceptable. It's not birtherism because nobody is disputing she was born on us soil, it's just a little legal problem because of the status of Mexican migrant workers during that period.
