Just showing off the shelf I built from scratch for my coffee stuff. It's my first time making anything like it, and I'm sure it shows, but I thought this thread might be interested since it is coffee-adjacent.

I was supposedly #20, and when I checked like 5 minutes later it was only at 40/100. I suppose it could have been one of those eventual consistency or caching things, but it probably wasn't too hard to get in on the slightly better rate if you were prepared. Got the boost because why not. A shame wireless will be a later addon and that it's still on micro usb. A lot of the media about the boost kit said it'd include bluetooth, though maybe that's only for monitoring and not modifying profile / control.

apologies if this will get me thrown out of the coffee thread but does anybody in the thread have any experience with getting a jura machine serviced? i was given one as a gift and it's great when it works but first the milk frother poo poo the bed and then i left it with my mother in law and she killed it. now it makes lots of noise but no coffee comes out, and lots of water comes out of the bottom somewhere. it's one of those things where it cost too much for me to want to get a screwdriver and just start digging in, but also good god i don't want to imagine the cost of a service call. do any of you guys have any idea what i'm in for?

Wanted to  about picking up a Fellow Ode with SSP burrs installed from the factory. I switched over from a Comandante C40 Mk3 that I was using over the past 2.5 years and I'm liking the Ode immensely, if anything, just for not having to hand grind the beans every time I want to make a cup of coffee.I'd be curious to eventually do an A/B test between the two grinders but after partially seasoning the Ode with about 1.5lbs of coffee, I feel like I'm enjoying the results more from my V60 brews on the Ode compared to the Comandante.

Recently got my first espresso machine (Silvia) and was making ok but not great espresso all week. Today I made the tiniest adjustment to the grinder and finally "dialed in" and suddenly the espresso is amazing. Surprised what a difference such a small setting can make. Now I have to try to resist drinking five more cups.

I am in a similar boat I got my gaggia repaired and have been enjoying making decent espresso drinks in the morning for beloved and I After I got it dialed in for a lungo (to split) I was a getting tasty enough volume of coffee , while happy with the coffee I checked my ins and out and I was at a 1:5 ratio and I would like to be at a 1:3.5 and now I'm slowly "chasing" the extraction up by updosing and coarsening the grind every morning so I don't choke the shot but increase extraction It's a fun little hobby that nets me tasty morning bean juice

I'm getting annoyed at how inconsistent my espresso is, despite trying to keep things as consistent as possible. I used the exact same amount of beans and the exact same grind setting. I'm using a spring-loaded tamper so the tamping pressure should be pretty consistent, and I've got a WDT device (with looped wire ends instead of needle tips). I dialed in a perfect shot on my semi-automatic Bambino Plus, then pulled another one using that programmed time, but I noticed the flow was much more constricted. I ended up with 26g instead of 34g, and it tasted extremely sour. Why would the flow have changed so dramatically from one shot to the next in the span of about five minutes? If I had just manually pulled the second shot and aimed for the same weight (i.e., running it longer to compensate for the flow), would I have had a more consistent taste?

That would explain your difference in flow rate, despite using the program. I have a Breville infuser, and after having a problem with getting tons of channeling, especially with lighter roasts. After googling the problem pretty intensely, I found out that most of that channeling came from the pressure being too high (15 bar typically vs ideally like 9). It seems to be a problem with most Breville machines. I’m lucky, and my machine is one of the ones that you can run preinfusion pressure for the whole shot. It seems your machine does not. This solved my channeling problem instantly. I can’t use the program feature anymore, but I value the consistency and no channeling of the lower pressure shot. https://espressoaf.com/manufacturers/breville/preinfusion.html If your machine doesn’t have this, doing an OPV mod is a popular option. Also, What grinder do you have? The grinder may not be consistent enough. I went from an encore to a Eureka Manuale/Notte and it’s made a huge difference with the consistency. I've had a dilemma with my French press over the years, which has resulted in me often switching to (gasp).... canned coffee. In short, I am following the standard French press instructions to brew freshly ground up coffee beans for four minutes. The problem is.... no matter what coffee I try - I have tried perhaps twenty varieties throughout the years - my coffee gives me a nice pick-me-up for an hour or less, then I just plummet. Whereas with canned coffee or other caffeine sources, my energy tends to last much much longer. I have never been able to figure out what the deal is. This is partly my fault because I kept repeating the same thing. I always thought it was the coffee until I finally said enough is enough. Perhaps I am the overcaffeinated type and I just need to brew the drat coffee longer? Maybe I should try an additional minute or two? Perhaps I am not grinding up the coffee enough - is it the more ground up, the stronger, or the opposite?

If you usually use darker roasts, a lighter roast tends to have more caffeine. If you’re drinking it cold, cold brew also tends to be more caffeine heavy. But also just drink more coffee.

I drink that around lunch as a small boost, is there any caffeine at all in that "second running"?

Which is why I switched to just black coffee many years ago. Also, having your piss be neon yellow after drinking tons of B12 or whatever can not be good for you.
