The Anglo media kind of turn on the "we muuuust save the muslim minority in countries we don't like" agenda around 10 years ago. If you look at youtube, its very obvious. Before that point, nobody from the voa/bbc/cnn gave a poo poo about the rohingya people. All the documentaries/long form report were made by al jazeera and independence channels. But at some point, you start seeing sea of Anglo reports. Funny thing is the Keran people in Myanmar were oppressed longer, became refugee longer, but they are Christian minority not Muslim minority the Anglo press continue to ignore them. And you can kinda see the Uyghurs in China got the attention around the same time. Thats why Zens were studying Tibetan culture but he switched to "study" the Uyghurs on a dial. There might but other Muslim minority in other "rogue counties" but I haven't been paying attention. But the thing is, I don't think it work on the Muslim world wide consensus. Obama admin might have ordered that narrative from the central command and also planned to withdraw from the Afghan war at the same time. But US couldn't leave Afghanistan for 10 more years. So the Anglo press and the "academy" have been turning out these "China/Myanmar governments are horrible to the Muslims" think pieces year after year, but it hasn't changed the Muslim countries perception to China at all. Even Turkey government which was pretty hostile again China 10 years ago (issued fake passports to the Uyghurs) has turned around in recent years after their currency got hosed by the west. What I think the main issue is US elites expected the Arabic countries care about the Muslim minorities all over the world. In reality I don't think the rich ME countries care about non Arabic Muslim minority. What I am saying is, maybe someone who is in CIA, or whoever is running NED should say, "hey guys, this angle hasn't been working. Maybe we should tried something else."

The "we must save the poor Muslims" narrative is a purely domestic one is a way to justify the new cold war not to the global population but the domestic one. I can't imagine anyone outside of the English speaking world believes it for a second.

if you frame xinjiang as religious persecution and don't talk about Hui people and all the halal accommodation in china, or Uighur-Hui tension or the fact that like 3% of the NPC is from islamic ethnicities or how islam is not that foreign to china or w/e I don't want to hear it. it's pure projection from westerners
