abe sucked but this isnt really worth celebrating because the jp government is 100% going to enact insane crackdowns because of it. a violent murder of a former prime minister damages their 'safest country in the world' image that theyve been coasting on, even if by the numbers they still are by a mile. and if the guy was like, an otaku or had strong left-wing ties, lol. the response to this is gonna be way worse than abe still being alive odds are.

the one good thing about the jp government is that while they never implemented anything good they also never really implemented anything bad, it was a very stagnant country politically. also the lib dems were starting to flounder as covid recovery stalled out, but they're definitely gonna get a bounce from this. granted theyd probably never lose the cabinet but they were unlikely to get any kind of supermajority. yeah jp news media often takes most of a day to officially announce deaths, even in cases where someones head gets completely destroyed or something. especially if its a major political figure. the lack of an official announcement isnt them hedging their bets just in case, dude 'had no vital signs' and there hasnt been a single update to the contrary for the past two hours.
