The real answer is just to listen to Quebec in full 'cause it's the sad divorce rehab album and very good.

I'm having a Primus night, so I may check those out to continue on the "harder" roll. Most nights I'm more of a soul, funk, hip hop, or country gal, but not tonight! I wanna get Melvins "Houdini" but I need to check before buying it new, as I vaguely remember ol dude being a chud now? I may be thinking of a different band, so off to Google!

Record stores are supposed to be dank funny smelling hole in the wall type places full of autistics, weirdos, malcontents, and ill tempered old guys who can barely go three seconds without insulting a customer and virtually no one younger than 30-35. I find the idea of just a bunch of teenagers in a record store to be incredibly upsetting.

In a vintage store the other day I found an absolutely thrashed original copy of Paul McCartney's 'Pipes of Peace' with a 30€ price tag. It was surrounded by old classical albums and budget 80s compilations which were all around 5€ so I have no idea how or why it was priced like that. I regret not picking up 'Sauna A-Go-Go', however. https://www.discogs.com/release/1563450-Jaakko-Salo-Orchestra-Sauna-%C0-Go-Go (NSFW)

Yeah, I remember it was beyond "he said a slur", like "hanging out with actual Nazis" poo poo. As a country-lover, I'm no stranger to artists having lovely views, so I buy their music used. Their music feels good to my ear-holes, but I don't want my money to feel good to their wallet-holes. Enos Cabell posted:I forget, did I tell you to check out Moistboyz? Overall though, some doomy/sludgy stuff is my favorite of the metals. Also, Lamb of God's first four albums hold a special place in my little elementary/middle school heart. I think As the Palaces Burn and the recent Handsome Boy Modeling School purchase have been my only new-not-used RSD grabs, and I love 'em both. Definitely dip into their Country album they cut with OG session musicians in Nashville if you’re in a Country mood. Or the Live in Toronto album when they took those dudes on tour; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzTbyJaFmIw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgoy-PHdHSk

I was given a small record collection from a relative. Nothing super duper interesting, but mono first presses of meet the Beatles, rubber soul, and the hard days night soundtrack which were taken care of pretty well. Rubber soul is actually in great shape other than a totally worn out groove starting side 1. And then there’s this

I'd been meaning to get the Devo singles comp from Run Out Groove for a while. Having finally done that I'm really impressed with the overall quality of the release. The mastering is perfect and this is certainly a much better pressed album than anything new I've come across in a while. Even the album cover is of higher quality construction. It's a shame that Sparks' A Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing didn't win its vote a while back because if this Devo album is any indication this company doesn't do cheap cash ins. This album was produced with great care. It also came with a cool patch and some stickers. My only complaint about this release is that they should have included Be Stiff instead of something else like the different mix of Snowball or the Shout era single. And this cover was used as packing material and I just thought it was funny:

But I knew I'd get it eventually and I saw that the prices are starting to climb so I wanted to grab it before something like 60 bucks becomes the bottom shelf price. Anyway I just kept an eye on discogs for a few days and managed to get it at the original retail price. ROG titles are expensive for sure but at least now I know it's because they're making a premium product and not because of the usual "gently caress you, give us your money." reasons because ultimately the price of these things are similar or equal to all kinds of normal big label releases of much lesser quality. I'm also a huge Devo fan so I just wasn't going to miss out on this one.

Went to my family's lakehouse in Michigan for the first time in many years, and made a trip into Traverse City (which has changed a lot since I was last there). Checked out a local records store, and was shocked at the great selection of stuff they had there. I would have liked to have spent time looking through every single record they had as it was a mix of new and used, old and recent stuff, but my family was waiting for me, so I just perused the artist labels. I had some big ones I was looking for, Broken Social Scene, TV on the Radio, Feist, New Pornographers. They had labels for TV on the Radio and Feist, but no records. Broken Social Scene, they only had the newest record that's still in print and widely available. This is what I snagged. check screen size online That New Pornographers album I understand is out of print, and currently on discogs going for at minimum $40 after shipping. S / S / S, I wasn't necessarily looking for it, but I'm a loving huge Sufjan Stevens fan, and when I saw a fairly full looking section for Serengeti, I thought, just maybe. And there it was. I don't think Sufjan's side project rap group is very popular in the Sufjan cannon, and I generally don't get into rap a whole bunch, but I just think this record is so much fun. And it still has Sufjan's influence all over it.

Northern Michigan is really just one of the most beautiful places. There's a reason why Sufjan wrote an entire album about it. I spent 8 days in the middle of the woods on a lake, only hearing the sounds of birds (and the caws of some white eagles that live on the property) and fish jumping. Coming back to the city after so long was a little jarring.
