I don't think that Dorries is stupid exactly, she just has Tory brain, in the same way that people like Raab do. It's a thing where you get to such a level of leadership that nobody ever questions or challenges you anymore and you can just get away with saying any old poo poo, so that's what you do all day and you never actually have to engage your brain and think about anything, so you stop doing it. And then on the rare occasion some journo or somebody actually does ask you a question and you have to engage your brain, you've forgotten how... but of course it doesn't matter ultimately anyway because 99% of the press are nodding dogs and client journalists so the only people who pay attention enough to notice and care that you've said something mind-meltingly stupid through lack of brain activation are the ones who already thought you were a humongous piece of poo poo. Truss comes across as genuinely a bit dim and completely vapid, there's a difference. I wonder if this means she'll essentially just be a... what's the word for it? Like a paper leader or something? Essentially she'll just be a ventriloquist's dummy for all of the worse people in the party, who will hold the real power, while she takes the flack.

All the effort was spent on monstering Corbyn, none on providing any sort of alternative. Johnson, Truss, Kieth. They're not sending their best.

I generally characterise it as the "do you know who I am" kind of thinking. I am a very important member of the government, google, and you will obviously do whatever I say and nobody can tell me I am wrong.

Speaking as someone from the constituency next door who knows her long-suffering constituents... no, she really is stupid. Absolutely loving moronic. A dumpster fire of a black hole of intellect from which no salience has ever been spotted throughout the eternities of the cosmos. In every iteration of the multiverse not once has a Nadine Dorries ever been anything that you could maybe squint your eyes at and, at a distance, might think had sapience.

It does not. It is a pro-deccan film. The film ends with a montage of Deccan revolutionaries and one of the male leads is very explicitly not even Hindu. This came up in the pop culture cspam thread and the take of multiple Indian posters was "it is very stupid to think any reference to Hinduism in pre-independence India is Hindu nationalism" Guavanaut posted:Yeah it's a got a similar energy for BJPs as The Patriot was for proto-Trumpists. The Patriot was hilarious because Mel Gibson's hatred of the English rivals his hatred of Jewish people and hatred of the current Pope. Also the only part I remember is someone got their head blown off with a cannon ball and that ruled. I think I am reflexively keen on The Patriot purely because I saw it after bunking off school when we had social dancing, which was the bane of my teenage life. When you have social anxiety and you're meant to ask a girl to dance it seemed easier to just deal with being told off for vanishing from school for a double period. And needless to say, never in my life since leaving school have I ever needed to know a waltz or the Gay Gordons. Now if they'd included a good old-fashioned mosh pit... I'm curious of that dancing shite, was there anything like that in English PE classes?

We actually used to have country dancing as its own thing at my school, but either they stopped doing it or I stopped being invited when I was quite small, either year 7 or possibly we only did it in primary school maybe? It wasn't a proper lesson as far as I recall, we just occasionally got bundled into the hall and got an hour or two of basically folk dance instruction. As an adult I kind of wish we had kept doing it, I recall it being kind of fun in hindsight.

Not just the current Pope, he hates all of them since the 60s when Vatican II said that Jews don't have horns and aren't collectively still responsible for the death of Jesus and you should stop saying it and he took it as a personal affront to his lifestyle of drink driving while saying exactly those things.

EdBlackadder posted:We had 'country dancing' at primary school which was as dull as poo poo. Nowt at secondary school. Yeah, ours was mostly Scottish Country dance, the poo poo you get at ceidlh, and we did it from 1st to 4th year of high school, for about 6 weeks before Christmas (maybe it was less but it felt like it went on forever). But definitely remember waltz, which was the really really uncomfortable one. Mostly I remember just being mad that it got in the way of doing things in PE I actually enjoyed like football, rugby, hockey, badminton, swimming. No social anxiety there. And ceidlihs would be better with more blastbeats and tremolo picking. What I'm saying is ceidlihs should just be black metal shows. I remember the teachers insisting we'd be glad for this because we'd use it at our wedding and joke's on them, I never got married forkboy84 fucked around with this message at 00:51 on Jul 21, 2022 |
