We conceived a way to use my mother as a porn mule

Went to a meetup my buddies from the Fish & Drifts YT channel put on. It was off the cuff and was super cool to chat with people whom I know the car but not the owner. Saw some very old friends that drifted apart due to ... well life.

My photos are potatoes cos I was really there to catch up and live in the moment instead of obsessing about documenting every car. Although never fear! I will be spotto'd a LOT in the coming youtube video dammit.

Got to see my mates ratrod a bit more up close.

There was also a 'Lure Casting' Competition for the kiddos which was super sweet

Would buy that car immediately if it were, let's say, sub $50k. Ideally sub $40k but I'm sure inflation or something means that will never happen.

This is one of those rare cars where you buy it and just own it 100% stock until the day you die. I would put down a deposit for this car tomorrow so long as it were not a hydrogen powered model

But just imagine the barn find in 80 years, when some hivetuber tries to figure out how to get the hydrogen system to hold pressure after sitting for 78 years without running!

We all know after the Supra came out, no one who works a 9-5 will ever be able to afford it, it'll be terrible for what it actually is and youtubers will just swap a 2J into it once it hits the auction market.

The current toyota mirai goes for 49,500$, highly unlikely that a far cooler hydrogen car retails for less than that.

Oh, I just found out that Kia is an offshoot company of Hyundai. :v:

So they have Peter Schreyer who seems to overlook both as a 'executive design advisor' and there's obviously a split between companies with actual designers from what I can see.

Simon Loasby is Hyundai's 'head of Hyundai style' but that could just be a wanky job title. The true heroes will likely never get named.

https://www.bosshunting.com.au/motors/electric/hyundai-n-vision-74/

So it's RWD, two electric motors, nominal 670 hp hybrid featuring both hydrogen fuel cell (Which is claimed to be 4.2kgs and able to be refilled/recharged? in 5 minutes) AND battery thats about 60kWh

No chance it'll be production esp with crash regs as they are but that fuel cell / battery hybrid, that's something I can see making it to a production car

I feel like there's an endless supply of super low mileage black oldsmobile cutlass supremesGNXes. They hit at a time when older cars with low miles were first stating to gain attention as being valuable and at a price point where anyone who could clean the boxes of christmas decorations out of their garage for long enough to park a car in it and then pile the boxes on top of that seems to have done it.

I find them incredibly uncompelling. They were grandpa cars even when released.

#2 isn't ALWAYS bad...

There’s a seemingly endless supply of clean GNs and Turbo-Ts yes, for exactly the reasons described.

They only built 547 GNXs though. They’re rare even accounting for everyone squirreling them away with sub-100mi odometer readings. The entire turbo 3.8 line is fondly remembered for a reason, too. They were legitimately fast outliers in the depths of the power doldrums.

Plugged the sticker price ($29k) of a '87 gnx into a historical investment calculator pegged to the DJI (stock market) and it spat out $545k

Looks like the 81 mile GNX is going to fetch $150k

I've never been much of a fan of that car either

Somewhere, somebody has a 12 mile 2000 Mercury Marauder convinced they're sitting on a gold mine

Halfway through, I went to fix us both a coke float.

Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere.

My dad has an '87 that was my mom's daily driver in the mid-late 90's and I did some Friday Night Drags in it in high school. I think it has about 60? thousand miles on it and is on a salvage title/VIN at this point after it got stolen and returned to us. I don't understand keeping these (or really any) car as a garage queen. They're meant to be driven and enjoyed, and if they sit you still have to perform maintenance so why not use them?

Well I think also it's a Buick, which has name recognition, as mentioned up thread, as a grandpa car brand (except weirdly in China) and the market for factory Buick 1980s hotrods has got to be vanishingly small, especially at that end of the market

The GNX that sold in February for $500k was the very last gnx, also the very last car built at some factory, signed by what looks like every guy who worked at the factory. This one is just an overpriced, mostly failed marketing gimmick from the 80s
