I haven't flown since getting off the plane home from Iraq in 2005 and I'm not planning on doing it again, ever. Just kinda feel like I ran that line of luck as far as it can go after a bunch of military flights. Besides, I can smoke on long drives.

Really speaks to the folly of man that humanity could realize its most ancient dream that inspired artists and troubadours for thousands of years and then within a single lifetime make it such a lovely experience that nobody wants to do it anymore

I still like a flight, but I'd rather land somewhere big and then drive 3-4 hours than chance some little airport not to have a maintenance or crew shortfall problem.

I've flown United and Sotuhwest extensively recently and not really had any problems. Then again I fly out of Houston which are main hubs for both. Connection? What's that, never heard of it Meanwhile the one single one-way flight I tried to book on American got canceled.

I flew air France as my first foreign airline experience and it was like having a sleep over at a rich friend's house. Only then did I realize I how I could be living To those who have flown on Spirit and Ryanair, how do the budget airlines compare?

The quickest way to turn a billion into a million is to start an airline. Except the US is a captive market due to ownership regulations and terminal slots. Competition is limited and the product is trash. Virgin is the case study.

And it's on a 747 which I've always wanted to be on. I just did LAX MUC BUD on a united coded flight on Lufthansa. Had a 24 hour layover in MUC on my return. Check in LAX and BUD was loving stupid long. LAX was 2 hours 20 mins. I go to BUD at 345am, and still have probably 30 people in front of me. In MUC, I was checked in, bags dropped and through security on a Sunday morning in 15 minutes. I felt like I won life. The LAX MUC flight was 12 hours long. Nice staff, but they didn't really enforce the German mask mandate. Meals were mediocre, wine good, only canned Becks beer (shudder). Boarding was chaos, but they have those self boarding lanes. A secret is to slide in at the end of the group 1. The AI gates won't stop you from boarding if you're not in the currently boarding group. If your flight is through their MUC hub, I highly recommend a long or overnight layover. They have a Lufthansa bus that goes to the main Munich train station for only 17 euros.

Or grab a €9 ticket and ride all public transit (except intercity trains) as much as you want. There's a train station at MUC and the S1 and S8 lines go the main station. Go to Augustiner Bräustuben, order the Schweinshaxe and a Ruß'n Maß. Enjoy to the fullest. KozmoNaut fucked around with this message at 18:59 on Jul 28, 2022 |

Second was for a sick baby and got the info we needed. Wouldn’t replace a primary physician but when you need help for a quick question or on a weekend it worked great. Right, it does. I missed the October part. Still, I would expect the S-Bahn ticket to be cheaper than the LH-Bus. E: Yeah it's €12,30. E2: But everything is relative, we paid €1K total for two people from Copenhagen to Munich and back. A-yup.

Maybe building a big solar/wind field next to that samsung plant in Texas with some fuckoff huge batteries would be a good start for this chips poo poo. Nevermind that texas is probably a lovely place for a chip factory, samsung picked it (probably because of tax breaks), and we can't really afford for windmills to stop working lol (or natgas pumps freezing) putting the plant into a blackout. Those places have very strict shutdown procedures and relying on the texas grid is a massive lmao if that's the continuing plan. But we're also probably going to wind up with crypto miners somehow getting a handout from this too. Somehow.

The way I've heard it explained, a business can make a ton of money: 1) selling/leasing/maintaining aircraft (and in particular engines) or 2) renting out landing & gating slots at airports, and almost impossible to make a cent operating an actual airline since the other two will adjust their fees accordingly to siphon off any margin you might accumulate. Competing airlines are always just going to be crabs in a bucket racing to the bottom in terms of service trying to eke out as much excess value they can to waste on stock buy-backs while Boeing/Airbus/GE/P&W and the lease-holders of ATL/DFW/DEN/ORD/... make off like bandits. So in other words, America needs to get on the same wavelength as the rest of the world and
