I'm imaging some chud coming up with names for the ranks of antifa. Like first you start out as a "Comrade, First Class" and move up within the organization to "Arsonist", "Provocateur", "Master Provocateur", and all the way up to "Commissar" before you have to attend a special course at the Antifa Academy to get your first commission as a "First Insurrectionist".

No exaggeration, I've often had conversations with conservative family where all of a sudden they'll say something like, "Did you know the leader of ANTIFA lives in a mansion?!" and all sorts of references to particular people being in centralized leadership. -------------- Last night, I dipped into the Fox Boards. There was an article about the women with a history of non-voluntary mental illness who fired a gun in the Dallas airport, covered with mugshots. She is a person of color. These are all responses from the first page, with no further digging. Pay attention to the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" as well. This response was posted multiple times, and appears to be a new racist screed - Huh, someone posted something approaching "Less Racist." Let's see how people responded directly underneath! There is also poo poo so mask off it would give a Klansman a hard-on.

I AM GRANDO posted:Where are his sunglasses and why isn’t the photo taken from inside the truck? He had to exit his truck to enter the line for the church's Biscuit Potluck, of which I'm sure he is offering his services as a security guard. Because of the roaming ANTIFA gangs, ya' know? Which is why there is a strict "NO SUNGLASSES" rule, he has to confirm everyone's identity against their driver's license before allowing them inside the parking lot.

Jesus' crown of thorns on a Punisher logo. Just let that entire sentence sink in for a bit. Really feel around the nooks and crannies of everything it represents so you get a good, solid understanding of the (lack of) thought processes going on.

Murgos posted:Because the price of gas in Russia means something? Because it could be that low here if we weren't in this war and Biden would let oil companies drill! But yeah it's interesting the various reasons why Freepers seem to be generally opposed to the war, from "SOROS" to "Putin is a great man defending his country and the world from THE JEWS." Especially the ones who are very pro Russia, those are the weirdest, because China and Russia are very close allies and all of Freep loving hates China. So you'd think they'd be anti Russia just because of that, but I suppose it would require Freep to be capable of thoughts more complex than "hate everyone not like me."

bird food bathtub posted:Jesus' crown of thorns on a Punisher logo. The cognitive dissonance in that picture could fry an egg. As I've mentioned before, I grew up in family that divorced when I was five in 1989. One half was all British immigrants, who were socially left and a bunch of atheists. The other half of the family is all ultra-conservative, rabidly fundamentalist southerners. I had a schizophrenic upbringing, to say the least. My favorite way for dealing with the irrationally conservative is doing the following - - "Joe Biden is a puppet of China! He's trying to turn the USA in a communist state!" - "Oh, really? How so?" - "....." You would be amazed at how much just asking them to explain a claim can literally make them outrageously pissed off. No confrontation or aggressive attitude on my part, either. It's just handing over a coil of rope and asking them to tie a noose around their own neck with the most painfully simple questions.

It's also a fundamental lack of understanding of even the simplest concepts of economy. Coworker: "Gas is only half the price in country X, why is gas so expensive here?" Me: "But they also earn only 25% of our wages on average, so gas is actually more expensive there?" Coworker: "But I want cheap gas REEEEEEEEEEE." Also the same coworker who asked me last month "what is inflation, I don't understand". She's only 55yo, still learning the basics I guess.

This had the effect of requiring you to buy rubles to pay for things (for instance, natural gas). When there is a high demand for something with a limited supply the price goes up. It's strong not because people are optimistic about it and Russia's future but because they have no choice if they want to keep the gas flowing.

It should also be noted that it's "up" but the volume being bought and sold is way down so the economic effects are still very very bad. The EU (and Putin for some cases) won't let most people trade rubles to them anymore anymore so that's constricting supply way down. Russia is in way worse shape than their currency suggests.

Yeah, The Russian economy looks good if you only look at Ruble to USD exchange rate and absolutely nothing else. Prices are skyrocketing, production has fallen off a cliff, and imports and nongas exports are basically nonexistant. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or has no idea what they're talking about. (or both)
