For some reason the first LP of Dongan Ronpa was the only way to access it English for a bit so when lowtax noticed a ton of traffic in the lp sub he slammed the paywall down and for months there were furious tumblr posts about the tyranny of SA

I knew about the the Danganronpa paywall shenanigans but never before looked into what the game actually isquote:The series primarily surrounds various groups of apparent high school students who are forced into murdering each other by a robotic teddy bear named Monokuma. ah, ok. Checks out. I'd be pissed if I didn't get to see the conclusion of this too.

Spoiled rich kid is spot on though. I REALLY want to post some of our private FB conversations but won’t because I’m not a ghoul. I helped him with some legal issues (not knowing both sides of the story). I still feel bad about it. What strikes me reading back through it is that while I am helping coordinate poo poo with lawyers etc he still stops in the middle of it to literally write, “give me money” (just like that, no context or lead-up). Eventually I figured out he was a poo poo (before all of the revelations) and stopped talking to him because he went loving apeshit on me for talking about a car I owned that he wanted and I guess that made him mad. Dude was a loving weirdo and not a very nice person even to people who went out of their way to help him

He was a relatively intelligent guy who was born into generational wealth that had an idea at the dawn of a technical revolution that could have been A Big Deal(TM). I don’t think he was an “evil” person and I don’t think he meant to harm anyone but he got addicted to <x>, perhaps through no fault of his own. Addict behavior is sometimes out of character and although near the end you could totally still see flashes of the guy he was, he was just too far gone into booze and pills to come back without some sort of serious intervention. I don’t think he was a bad person, just a very lazy person who felt like the world owed him something - the world delivered and he just kept up the “what have you done for me lately” shtick until he fell over the edge E: to be super clear, domestic abuse is beyond the pale and I had already severed ties with the guy when that came to light - part of why I feel terrible now. One of the reasons I felt bad for Rich and wanted to help him was that I empathized to some degree. Ive had my own struggles with substances over the years but I have never, ever resorted to physical violence against folks I care about - even when I was at my lowest.
