Does VMP still require you to subscribe to be able to buy any of their stuff? They have some albums I'd like, but I'll never join a sub service again.

Oh hell, still unpacking but I bought these. The vinyl looks good offhand, just much-loved copies it looks like. I think you have to light candles and drink wine if you listen to these.

I bought Jailbreak without being a member, and I think I paid some premium above what a member would pay -- it was $39, and presumably less if you're a member -- but I was definitely able to buy as a non-member. I don't know if there are other things that only members can buy -- it's the only thing I've tried to buy from them.

I'm not familiar with most of this but Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is an amazing album and everyone here should get a copy.

I'm glad to hear it, because that one, Oxa, and Johnnie Taylor were impulse buys based on the covers. Soft Cell in particular here looks like they're ready to sell you some illegal porn (because it features cyborgs)

Coworker gonna print me some Kallax spacers for vinyl for the cost of the filament - $30 CAD or so.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3625283

He says it'll barely use up any of it so may look into like a record stand or something too.

non-members dont get the $5-$6 dollar discount and then you have to pay for shipping as well which is another $6.

I can’t imagine doing it without bracing the bottom substantially. Maybe that’s how you’d do it, though. 3/4” plywood and 8 casters.

You could get away with a ladder frame and thinner plywood, but yeah. You're not just jamming some casters on a kallax, you've got to create an artificial floor.

I also had a large Discogs order come in today, but didn’t post it here because no one here would approve. It only had one 7” record… CD singles are cheap and have a lot of weird things on them!

However, Aesop Rock announced today that the of his online only albums (the Lice releases) are going to vinyl, so I preordered those. Then added Appleseed and Garbagology on vinyl as well. Spirit World was too much for me right now, but I bought that on CD so that I can have his entire discography (beside Music For Earthworms).

I picked up about 30 records for about 10 dollars, and when I find them for so cheap I sometimes get a few things I wouldn't have. Like the 78s here are just curiosities but since I'm getting the 78 machine up and running, and these were also 33 cents I got the fricking Shriners' record and the Yale Glee Club. And somebody had donated a dozen really nice belly dance records, a couple shown below:

Likely supply chain. When I ordered they noted that the new inventory would be available around the end of the month. Pretty much every week they remain sold out and the new inventory date gets pushed back. Probably going to request a refund soon because there are a lot of similar options on Etsy.

It could use a little touchup but yeah.

Okay, because I wanted to show off the art I put a link to the image in full size. I remember this from my childhood, BTW, and the Volkswagon Arrow was sort of named after the song, IIRC. It was in the commercial for it.

drat. I used to see Jailbreak all the time in the cheap bins. My copy has definitely seen better days but $40+ yikes. That Gravediggas is pretty tempting though.

Here are some pictures I generated for the thread with the Dall-e AI. "oil painting of an old audiophile sitting in a room listening to headphones surrounded by records"

You post so many interesting albums and they deserve better than 640x369 thumbnails. Also every other time I go to paste the image url in the post it gives me option to put img tags on automatically but would not while I was screen recording so I had to do it manually.

(No idea how the Imgur app handles image urls because I have never and will never use the Imgur app, they have made using the site on mobile as cumbersome as they can without outright restricting it)

That's pretty much the vibe of the entire album. All the songs are about weird sex stuff and seedy places where people go to watch porn and do weird sex stuff. And a cover version of Tainted Love.
