So I'm not an expert on the 'batshit insane drug trip' parts of the Bible, but my broad understanding of it is that the Antichrist is someone who's seen as a Christ figure while leading people to damnation, right? I'm not saying that's what he is, but I am saying that if I had a checklist watching for exactly this sort of thing I feel like we'd be a worrying way down it.

Not in the way they're trying to convince people they are. IRS are federal agents, presumably they're allowed to carry firearms

Freep as usual read it in the worst possible light, made up a bunch of additional things concerning it, and is going through their normal paroxysms of rage and terror.

Since these jackasses never step out of their bubble and in to reality, every single source of information they permit in their lives are all telling them the same lies all at once over and over.

The IRS may hire as many as 80,000 *employees* consisting of maybe 10 percent agents (the majority being paper-pushers and the like, same as any large organization) and maybe 1 percent agents with guns. This was spun by Republican lawmakers and conservative media as 80,000 IRS supersoldiers coming to bust down your door and audit you into an unmarked grave, well aware that none of their followers will check whether that's actually true.

It's really more like 20,000 extra people net.

I mean they probably also think you have a large dragon/hydra in there with the heads of various democrats which sleeps on top of a pile of stolen taxpayer money but goldbuggery is a fairly common right wing quirk. Not honestly enormously sure why as it is capitalism that necessitates the expansion of the monetary supply, even if the gold standard is also not great for other reasons. But then complaining about things that capitalism causes and blaming them on the socialist government is par for the course also on the right. Gold really does seem silly though, it being generally as useful as a paperweight unless you need to make circuitry. You can't eat it, it only has value if other people agree it does which, shocker, is also how fiat currency works. Especially silly among doomsday preppers because what the gently caress am I going to do with a gold brick in the apocalypse other than brain someone with it?
