as sun tzu said, in the midst of chaos there is also opportunity. I have decided to embrace the leading edge crisis opportunism and have started a warlord consulting agency. neolithic agricultural and diplomatic techniques for the aspiring warlord will be the agency's bible as soon as I get it written

JAY ZERO SUM GAME posted:somewhere jimmy carter grunts We are at a turning point in our history. There are two paths to choose. One is a path I’ve warned about tonight, the path that leads to fragmentation and self-interest. Down that road lies a mistaken idea of freedom, the right to grasp for ourselves some advantage over others. That path would be one of constant conflict between narrow interests ending in chaos and immobility. It is a certain route to failure. guess which path we chose

Yeah but there was a little trail of fast food and electronic goods along that path. What did you want me to do, go down the path made of literal dirt??

I grow grapes along the fence line for anybody to take and eat. I let milkweed grow 8ft tall so the butterflies have something to eat. I cut the yard once a year in late fall. In spring and summer the bees have the flowers. Today I caught some neighbor "helping " by cutting down the "brush" on the edge of the property. (I.e. 15 year old grape vines that people pick as they walk by.) I certainly don't want to have a doomer mindset, but I am..... concerned about the average persons relationship with nature and how that affects our society.

less insanely irony poisoned though, whoever posted that article with the quote along the lines of, "you stupid fucks, the 'untouched nature' you revere is actually land that's been carefully managed over generations by indigenous people who you slaughtered and then got surprised things didn't stay the same because you had no respect for the knowledge they accumulated and applied" that goes through my head a lot lately
