I think somebody from Volition once said that their entire game budget for SR3 was less than many other games' cutscene budget which is why they couldn't do nearly as many cutscenes as SR2. Really it's a miracle they managed to put out as many successes as they did since it sounds like they had proper funding for SR1 and 2 and then after that THQ just went "how about you do even more but with half the budget" and they had to compromise a ton just to get a game out in the end

Yeah, the back half of that game started to get off the rails pretty quick. SR4 doesn't even really have anything to do with Saints Row. I'm rather liking the new one.
