I managed to trophy a traditional sealed (4-0 with best of 3 I think?) event, which is the first time I trophied anything in Magic.  Felt great, but I got really lucky in my packs. Some notes: - Archangel of Wrath carried half of the games by himself, especially when protected with hexproof or indestructible - Weatherlight Compleated gave me enough value with scrying (especially when you have Argivian Cavalier which was creating tokens) alone, that it was worth including. I think it maybe hit an enemy once or twice overall, but scrying alone felt worth it. - Any form of stunning enemies felt really powerful. - Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart seems strong, especially late in the game when pumping stats. I won one game where I pumped once, enemy blocked to trade and then I pumped again for an extra +1/+1, catching them offguard. Also, Enlist is nice but it's crazy confusing for me - I lost few units just because I thought that enlisting pumps toughness too, which it doesn't. I lost one match cos i made assumptions about the WB saccing uncommon that were wildly untrue and did a really stupid attack to end a pretty decent game. That one was all on me

Also had a squeaky bum moment when I realised you can only tap one creature when enlisting and not your entire board? Completely misunderstood that mechanic. Still managed to leverage my balduvian berserker to get the win in the end but it was a tight match

my opponent, cycling cards like mad and slowly overwhelming me, and I drop a sheoldred and they're like  as they proceed to cycle 3 more cards after their draw step searching for something to kill sheoldred with, taking 8 damage  edit: I've never seen someone windmill slam the concede button as fast as this guy did the INSTANT sheoldred resolved

went 5-3 with that ridiculous swathe of rares/mythics, turns out it's another bomb-heavy format where whoever draws their ridiculous bombs first wins. in this case, 2 soul of windgrace players and 1 ajani player but the commons and uncommons are great too. despite only drawing sheoldred in 3 games and liliana in 1, I was able to bludgeon people with that gryphon that gets +1+1 UEOT combined with the sorcery that spawns 3 1/1 soldiers, I had 3 of the gryphon so stalled boards could very quickly get bowled over with those two pretty mediocre cards. also, Cut Down seems really good, but in dominaria draft/sealed, it really isn't since there's just a ridiculous amount of 6+ total P/T critters in the set. It was very frequently a dead card in my hand. on to another sealed, and I don't think my opponent read the clause on Phasing of Zhalfir's final step.

The fact that there seem to be synergies running around and sort of a lot of removal means maybe draft won't be quite as absurd. Also, does anyone pay for Untapped premium? I'm thinking of getting constructed for BO3 data (which seems pretty self explanatory), and tacking on draft isn't much more expensive, but I'm unsure how good their AI drafter/deck builder is.

I went 7-1 and 5-2 in sealed events. Just play the best cards in all 5 colors, the fixing is amazing. Territorial Maro is a beast.

I was one turn from death against an opponent who was at 4 health, and had this fucker on the field, swinging into their ranks with a 3/4 gryphon(nothing could block it) and it: I misread the card and realized my mistake just as I attacked: it's OTHER creatures dying that triggers the 1 health loss, not it. but my opponent didn't realize this, and let me win. heck yeah

First Sealed went 4/3 which I'm pleased with but man the reward structure is markedly worse than premier draft tot he point where I'm not sure it's actually worth it for me to do

You get a better payoff at low winrates but you don't break even on gems until much later, and I care much more about gems now than I do about packs now. However, given my first draft went 2/3 I'm still better off with Sealed. I might go for a Sealed attempt using my last 2k gems and post the deck overnight for advice.

An opponent pre-GG'd me after playing the guy who can turn enchantments into creatures. They animated their Temporary Lockdown like a complete dingus right into an Infernal Grasp. I got 6 creatures back on the board instantly and blocked the rest of his stuff down, they scooped immediately. Pride always comes before the fall.

Will try playing this game again because of the new thread and all the hype posts so far. Sounds like something cool is happening soon. Tried this in August of last year but gave up after being hit with too many walls of text and not being able to improvise under the time limit for my turn. This time, I know that I should just stick to the Standard game mode and ignore everything else. So, I looked up that "whatsinstandard" site in the thread OP and did all the codes or whatever. Apparently, all the starter decks from last year that I got are invalid now, so I can't play anymore until I make a new deck thing. The problem is you have to pick those common duals pretty highly or your domain deck won't work. But when you do that you're not picking good cards, so your deck just sucks overall. Like I'm sure some of them are just fine with domain for three, but they're not enough to build a deck out of.
