So uh, are they going to make it a positive portrayal of Malcom because they cast a white dude? This has the potential to be hilarious on so many levels, if it actually happens. I also enjoy how black actors keep getting cast as fictional characters in fantasy and sci-fi and the response from these piss babies is to go straight to an important civil rights leader from history recent enough for living people to remember. Just absolute smooth brain poo poo. I doubt they're actually going to go through with it though, this is just a stunt to try and get headlines to own the woke libs or whatever. If it does though he is absolutely saying the n word and also putting on a blaccent.

And if they do the bit where he meets with the American Nazi Party, are they going to ask Dave Chappelle to play George Lincoln Rockwell?

Yeah the whole thing is precipitated on the theory that everyone is as racist as Republicans and these high-minded liberal frauds will turn into blood-and-soil fascists the second they see a black (1962) or hispanic (2022) person on the streets of their neighborhood. This only works in Europe. https://twitter.com/AndrewDesiderio/status/1572639749038276611 The Gentleman from Tennessee brings up an interesting point. Kirsten Synema has been acting like Joe Manchin but she used to be super progressive so everyone was mystified and trying to figure out if there was some constituency that she was appealing to, some something that would explain her behavior beyond sheer cussedness -that she was trying to moderate in a purple state perhaps - and now polling shows that all she did was piss everyone off. https://twitter.com/Surgeon_General/status/1573017992304201729 Why is every Surgeon General an absolute freak zoux fucked around with this message at 21:39 on Sep 22, 2022 |

Sinema's voting record in the Senate is like Manchin's in terms of not doing what the bulk of the Democratic party wants, but Sinema is from Arizona (49-49 split in the 2020 Biden/Trump election) instead of West Virginia (69-30 in favor of Trump). Like zoux says, this polling is showing that she has not actually found some galaxybrained path to popularity. Replacing Manchin with a more left candidate probably just loses to the Republican, so his caucusing with the democrats while opposing most legislation schtick is still better than you can do otherwise. For Sinema you have a decent shot of replacing her with someone better (+ she's made everyone hate her, so her chances of reelection aren't that sure to begin with)
|
# ? Sep 22, 2022 22:21 |
|
For all that Manchin sucks, and he does suck, he has by far the most value over replacement senator of anyone in congress. It would be like Ted Cruz owning one of MAs Senate seats

# ? Sep 22, 2022 22:27 |

Sinema's plan seems to be just survive a primary based on incumbency/name recognition. Because if she makes it into a general election, Dems and non-trumpy conservatives will probably hold their nose and vote for her because the alternatives are too frightening to let pass.

USPol is too big to go looking for any one article, but I recall an interview article with some Sinema handlers who, on the condition of anonymity, spilled the beans on her big plans. The tl;dr galaxy brain summation was something along the lines of "she wants to be seen as an independent thinker above the party fracas so she'll look very presidential and non-partisan when she runs for POTUS". It doesn't seem to be going very well, but on paper it seems about as good a plan as Ted Cruz had for getting into the Oval Office. Which is to say it's a terrible, dumb-dumb plan

Well, one way to achieve that would be to actually, you know, DO THAT in a logical, intelligent and well communicated way instead of just deciding ahead of time what your "brand" is going to be and making yourself into something resembling a You Tube influencer or a reality TV star with all the credibility of a cheesy used car salesman billboard. Maybe present yourself as an independent thinker that cares about things by being an authentic and relatively honest independent thinker and explain why instead of doing a loving curtsy or moon walking on senate floor when you vote down a healthcare bill or some poo poo. I dunno. Stand for something maybe? But perhaps this is the future we're looking at though where 20 years from now, former TIk Tok and YT celebrities will run for office and Sinema is just a pioneer who's ahead of her time. It wouldn't shock me at the rate we're going here.
