Also I low key think it was genius for the plaintiffs lawyers to end their first round of questioning today. They got quite a bit of leash as the judge still wasn't quite sure how bad Alex would get.

Now Norm starts with a judge that's completely fed up with Alex's shenanigans already and who's pissed at him personally for being a condescending jackass telling her that SHE needs to do more to control HIS client oh my GOD What the gently caress

So hopefully they both earn a contempt hearing tomorrow :)

Sad I only saw the last ten minutes. I'd love if someone linked a timestamp of the beginning of the breakdown when the video is up.

So we taking bets how long Alex can go before he's in contempt for zero tolerance tomorrow? I'm going to go long and say two hours.

Yeah I liked the last question. He was asking about a poll on infowars.com that was titled "what's going to be the next deep state false flag" with the first option being mass shooting.

I only caught the end of it, it seemed like Mattei was trying to get Alex to behave badly. Like probably a dangerous strategy for any other witness but this is Alex Jones.

Pattis did object. The judge either couldn't hear him (or said she couldn't) over Alex shouting.

She as good as said she let things go at the end because she refused to keep repeating the rules, having Alex say he understood, then promptly igore them again.

She also was pretty pissed at Pattis's insinuation that it is her job to control his client.

The only way she could have controlled Alex at this point is if she insisted on him wearing a shock collar to stop him whenever Pattis objected.

She overruled a few objectives for being argumentative that (again just my opinion) should have been sustained instead. Problem is he was so bad at objecting earlier that the judge just isn't taking it now. She literally had to say "just say one word like hearsay or argumentative" to him.

I think this kind of just shows that Pattis is really incompetent, just not in the ways we saw in Texas. It was more of a slow burn incompetence that is now on full display

a recurring theme in Alex's testimony today is that Pattis would object to a question, and then Alex would ignore the objection (even if it was sustained) and answer anyway

You're right. Leaving the jury with an evening image of Alex Jones being an unhinged rear end in a top hat not only acting callously to their neighbors, but setting up his followers to disbelieve the next family that loses a kid is the platonic ideal of cross-examination.

In this case, he was subpoenaed by plaintiffs' counsel.

If everyone manages to get out of tomorrow without a contempt charge I'm guessing they are in the clear. Between TX and CT I'm guessing we've seen plenty of behavior that would justify contempt in another courtroom on another day but they are letting things go because of how long it's taken to get to this point and want to just steer this to a verdict? Or are judges just really normally this restrained on dropping the contempt hammer?

Might drop it in the closing? I could see that being effective.

Generally they have to request specific relief for claims. Every jurisdiction is slightly different in regards to written and case law but I always asked for specific amounts when I had the evidence to prove them. “I ask for an award of lost wages in the amount of $1,275,000” for example.

The two plaintiff lawyers have to compete against each other in a trial and then the winner goes against Pattis. Like Beat Bobby Flay.

According to Opening Arguments, a podcast that knows more about the law than me: Connecticut does have damages caps but they only apply to some cases. This case does not have a cap. The judge decides the damages.

Mr. Nice!

This case specifically does not have a damage cap on one count because Jones violated Connecticut's deceptive practices/commercial fraud statute by making a fuckton of money off of his lies. In most states, fraud is exempt from punitive caps.
