AND MY SONG IS...
Sometimes he just needs to fill 10 minutes on his show and he goes on a weird God trip because maybe he hadn't tapped into his religious listeners buying power enough that week. It's not especially consistent from day to day. None of it gels together. It's just stream of consciousness bullshit because he needs to fill 4+ hours a day.

I suspect having a rage meltdown in front of a jury always works in your favor.

Imagine this is how he behaves in public where any reasonable person would understand that their financial well-being is on the line so being on your best behavior is in your best interest. And then having a melty anyway. It must get pretty bad in private.

Hey, look. Look, if- if you screw me on this, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, you rat bastard!
The satanism angle from Alex had me double check something.

He seems like he would have been a K-12 student from about 1979-1992 or so. Pretty much all that part of his life seems like the D&D fearmongering, daycare cults, dangers of heavy metal music were likely huge in the conservative media space. In that specific window we have the kid from the Mazes and Monsters thing happening at very the start of it, and near the almost tail of of it we're looking at the early 90s Judas Priest trial over suicide through subliminal messages. I'm sort of stuck thinking about how back also in that very specific time the old Family Channel used to do semi-routine late-night 'media conspiracy'-type shows about such stuff that I totally missed the point of because I saw it as more 'interesting paranormal stuff' than the intended 'cautionary warnings.'

I know that a LOT of people also fit into that specific window, but I do wonder how much exposure Jones had to a lot of such media and 'media about media' that inspired or influenced him on things outside the 'I read a lot' of books growing up. Hell, even rewatching some of the old Max Headroom episodes, I found myself thinking of Alex Jones, for some reason.

AJ reminds me of every relatively successful small business owner I've ever known. The rage meltdowns, hiring dumb people to do a bad job purposefully, the blatantly transparent money manipulation, and of course the unchecked narcissism. His religious bits remind me of it a lot actually - the business owners / AJ all had surprising success in a market they didn't understand, so they totemically repeated the same actions over and over, even if success was obviously not repeatable. AJ probably had one specific religious freeform bit where he got a lot of positive feedback some dipshit wrote him a giant check, and so he goes to it like a weekly chore list, making sure to talk about demons and aliens, hoping to catch that same fish twice.

Assuming he's like all the other narcissistic small business owners I've known, it probably drove him loving INSANE that he couldn't do (or say) whatever the gently caress he wanted. I doubt he sees this as a meltdown, and I'd be willing to bet that he thinks his statement was truthful, honest, and contrite.

Unironic answer: if what he’s selling is a nootropic like he claims it is, the simplest legal one would be one of the -racetams. You can get a decent potency of the stuff before you need medical clearance for something on the “I actually have acetylcholine and brain problems” prescription end of that spectrum.

(Thank you ce gars and KicksYouInHalf and the original Marble Hornets series actively using it as a throwaway gag that ended up turning into a central plot element.)

Common side effects of nootropics in that family of “brain drugs” are severe dehydration due to explosive diarrhea. I’d assume you’d have a significant choline deficiency afterward if you didn’t take the stuff at the same time, or didn’t poison yourself from taking waaaaay too much.

The boost is literally just beet juice mixed with preservatives to make it sound like a legitimate product. Chances are you’d have no effect from it unless you’re allergic to beets.

Alex Jones is going to be in a world of hurt no matter what, but the sale of non-FDA regulatory products is on the low end of his rap sheet.

Fake edit: I went back to the footage: Jones says it costs $4 to make a single VASOBOOST, but they sell for $40, or $20 on sale. So that’s either 10 times the cost or 5 times. And this is relevant because he kept repeating that the average viewer was working class and could figure out basic math.

Yeah, that’s going to go over well.

Didn't he also blurt that out after trying to lie claim that their product markup was only 30%, not even the 80% that was listed in the phone dump? I'm pretty sure the jury is also able to figure out basic math. Mattei did a really good job getting under Jones' skin and getting Jones to shoot himself in the foot so badly it took off his leg. Honestly, I'm wondering how this trial can go for 4 weeks after that, I'm honestly wondering what either side can present to try to offset that clusterfuck of a show.

Either way, most people would, y'know, not brag about how little a product costs to make and how much they sell it for when you're also trying to convince people that your company doesn't make that much money, especially after you tried to say that there was only a slim 30% markup.

He's just a sheltered child. Plenty of people try to challenge him around Austin, especially back when he would be around town more. He would respond by shouting then down just like he does the callers that try to debate him. He got his rear end kicked once at cable access in the 90's for this behavior and only seemed to learn that he needs people around to protect him, not change anything about himself.

Dude is fundamentally incapable of self reflection. He grew up on John Birch books and televangelists. He is the exact person what those two worlds would lead to without any friction along the way to slow down your descent into madness and narcissism.

I would argue it makes sense for jones for the same reason it works for PBS. The people buying his stuff want to fund what he's doing and if they get some colloidal silver out of it, then hey nice bonus.

He's effectively running a cult. The people in his world don't care that the bitcoin went through his bank account, they don't care that he owns the company selling the products to infowars, and they probably think it's smart of him to have so many fake companies and money hidden offshore or wherever.

Do not give Alex any benefit of doubt on that, because he literally believes that George W. Bush was a secret liberal who was elected in order to trick conservatives into following the globalist agenda to repeal the Second Amendment (except on days where he wanted to whine about gay people instead and would inexplicably give Bush credit despite being a traitor) and only became "anti-war" years after 9/11 when stories of the Bush Administrations many lies were already coming out and he figured that he could use the factual "Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq" as a gateway talking point for people to accept "9/11 was a false flag attack by the globalists."

It cannot be overstated that he has always been acting in bad faith ever since he rose to the national spotlight, and has the mental capacity of a literal child when it comes to actually synthesizing information. If you offered a million dollars to him if he could define the differences between a liberal and a neoliberal, he wouldn't be able to do it because those words don't actually mean anything to him. They are purely pejoratives for people that he thinks are demon-worshipping vampires, where "liberal" means Democrat and "neoliberal" means a Democrat that is pretending to be a conservative.
