Like super sweet or something. I remember not liking it at all whatever it was. I may have thrown the rest out.

Yes I knew I was not alone in not liking their lobster bisque. Honestly a really tasty lobster bisque is at Publix. It's legit amazing and crazy good for a grocery store. But they only make it once or twice a week depending on your store.

Picked up a giant container of chicken noodle soup from the deli, it was pretty good. Insane amount of shredded chicken, probably 25% of the entire container was chicken. Decent amount of noodles, could have used more veggies. Well seasoned, with a very generous amount of black pepper in there which helps a lot. I'm thinking about going back to grab another one to portion and freeze.

Duct Tape Engineer posted:Beer isn't very perishable as long as you keep it out of sunlight, and it'll definitely last the three months until Christmas. That's kinda the point of beer. The expensive east coast IPAs and other heavily hopped beers do tend to be quite perishable. A lot of them suffer quite a bit from not being refrigerated as well. The beer advent calendars always suck though, there's always a bunch of filler or stuff you hate. There's a craft brew specialist store near me that will let you order one to a specified price point with exclusions for your particular tastes which is pretty awesome.

The only problem with this is that the Barton distillery prides themselves on being coal-powered on site, and their tours brag about using "two tons of eastern Kentucky coal a day"

When the hops became the point of the beer, rather than the alcohol and calories, the loss of hop quality over time became the new limiting factor for expiration

My one regret of moving to Oregon is that Costco doesn’t sell hard liquor. Whenever I drive back from California from visit family I feel like a 1920s bootlegger with my car so filled with alcohol. *not an alcoholic I swear.

The Clitoris posted:IPAs being more perishable? Certainly unexpected It's not so much that the beer goes off but the more fragile aromatic compounds from the hops degrade. The beer would be perfectly drinkable after 6 months in a shed, but you probably wouldn't want to pay craft beer prices for it

They won't spoil but it's not like they're delicious after that time. Also, beer used to last almost forever because the little bit of yeast at the bottom would sit dormant and "condition" the bottle. Now that most brewers filter out any residual yeast, most beers will go bad if you leave them for a while.
