they absolutely need to let Keith win an election in order to fully crush the Labour left, but for as bad as Truss is doing, i don't see how the tories dont just hold on for the next two years

Can’t they technically delay an election until January 2025? (It is also very possible they give Truss 1-2 years, then dump her for a slightly more palatable candidate before they have to call an election.)

tories would be idiots to collapse their own government and call elections early. ride it out, let keef fail and come back in 2029

I guess the real big brain move would be to immediately call elections because they know labour is structurally unable to handle any of the issues the tories also can't handle

no matter what incredibly dumb stuff truss does, if keith replaces her he'll continue her policies. the only objection he's ever had about tory policies is that they should be 2% more vile.

I guess I actually don't know if she's pro-inflation or not since the BoE intervention yesterday Truss' ideas (give money to the rich + starve the poor = magical growth) are what most Tory MPs believe. Where she differs from the majority is that she's so ideologically deranged/stubborn/plain thick that she wants to implement them immediately with zero regard for anything else that's happening or the reaction of the markets.

like legit if you wanna win the Conservative party leadership, remember the following: the membership has afaik always other than thatcher decided white man beats white woman, white woman beats minority. sunaks only shot was a ballot with him and some other PoC which is imo partially why they all got eliminated super super early. you have these incredibly long contests where they pretend this isn’t true. may was probably the best she managed to not only get another woman to compete against she got one who quit before it went to the membership.
