There's no feasible scenario where we replace the entire ICE fleet with an EV fleet while maintaining current levels of convenience. It's a pipe dream and serves only to delay what's truly necessary, a move away from the single-owner single-occupant automobile.

We will coup every resource rich nation on earth and piss away her entire reserves of lithium on automobile batteries before we move away from a paradigm that has only really existed since the end of WW2. We're a deeply sick people.

This video reminds me that I need to upgrade my commuter bike. It's a fine cheap bike, but the handle bars jostle out of place when I bunny hop or pop a wheelie. Most drivers treat me pretty well in Houston. I think that's because I stick almost exclusively to narrow side roads and places people normally drive under 25 mph. Drivers wave me to pass first or give me a generous amount of room when passing. There is little traffic. My experience is drastically different during rush hour or on a busy main street. Traffic turns drivers in negligent idiots and psychopaths. There's plenty of research on the mental health impact of traffic, but here's a 2017 study correlating traffic with an increase in domestic violence. https://kinder.rice.edu/urbanedge/2017/stress-sitting-traffic-can-lead-more-crime

yeah, at some point completely murdered out windshields and windows transitioned from "probably illegal" to factory standard* *I'm sure the piggies will still fine you for driving the car off the lot like that if you're a minority Clark Nova has issued a correction as of 17:08 on Oct 4, 2022 |

The pitch black tinting combined with ridiculously high suvs and trucks just makes any sort of communication completely impossible, not that you can trust drivers to actually see you even when they appear to be making eye contact anyway

Cup Runneth Over posted:I'm sure that has nothing to do with the absurd tinting that comes standard issue with every massive SUV that is sold today I haven't seen many (hopefully illegally) tinted windshields, at least not as much as side/rear windows. I presume it's mostly the anti-glare coating (which I hope actually works for the driver) making it virtually impossible to see clearly inside unless it's overcast. Also in Jersey it's hard to tell if you're being waved ahead or told to gently caress your grandma's dog.

theres a lot of very dark/probably illegal tinting down here in houston but i am very sympathetic in some ways, it's so loving hot here and a dark tint really does make a difference in how hot the interior of your car gets lol
