Mixed martial arts has spent decades absolutely, utterly desperate for anything resembling real journalists in the field, because in this industry your choices are typically between people like Kevin Iole who have unfettered access because they're total shills, people like Karim Zidan who are great but have absolutely no access because of it, and people like The Schmo, who are living jokes who exist solely to get youtube clicks. Ariel Helwani is one of the only people in the entire field who managed to have any modicum of real access while being at least occasionally critical of the hand that feeds, and was famous for constantly infuriating Dana White, which is every MMA fan's favorite thing. And even with all of that, people have still never been able to loving stand him. Congratulations on joining our pain, wrestling.

But after the Helwani interview I watched TK on Swerve's podcast, and TK is happy to talk wrestling with someone he trusts and knows won't set out to screw him for clicks (Insiders trusting Insiders being a standard thing.) If you're interviewing people, in any form of journalism, you should know full well, "I can't/won't talk about that," isn't a big deal, especially when there's sound reasons for it. No wonder Helwani was worried TK hates him. I don't think he does, he just thinks he's a moron.
