And the only reason that Ireland isn't part of that club is because we wanted to hang around with the UK while they threw a strop. Within Schengen you'll still need photo ID which will be either your passport or an ID card which is just the important page of your passport on a card. Driving licences are not usually valid as a proper ID for anything important, though you'll probably get away with it. e: got my EU settled status recently and while the upgrade from pre-settled was easy to do, it's still a bullshit hoop to have to jump through and I'm interested in the outcome of the court case against the Home Office that some watchdog started to stop them from requiring people to re-apply

What a ridiculous jingoistic load of poo poo, you don’t need to be from an ethnic minority to hate the national anthem, it’s a loving terrible song My children have my complete support in refusing to sing it, I’d go so far as to say not singing the national anthem is a British value

Just checked the Halifax (bank) and the provisional can be used for proof of address but not of identity. https://www.halifax.co.uk/securityandprivacy/privacy/proving-your-identity.html Also, a couple of weeks ago we were adding a further signatory to our flats' residents' bank account and the person concerned had no full driving licence or passport (she's in her 80s) and getting proof of id that was acceptable was a right pain. And you can bet your bottom dollar that when it comes to Voter ID a provisional won't be acceptable. (I used to use my provisional as an ID card in Cairo where some places required you to hand in ID to security (not just show but actually leave it with them) before you were allowed in eg the AUC bookshop off Tahrir Square).

Driving licences are no longer a valid form of ID when it's to do with government agencies or anything employment related, and yes I am fully aware of how batshit that sounds. It's because of brexit and every employer having to prove that each new employee has the right to work (although with anything government funded like the NHS they are having to go back and check all employees). People from the EU can get a driving licence but they may not have the right to work or universal credit, so they blanket made driving licences invalid as ID. This same logic is going to apply to voting if they bring in ID for that.

I need to work up the effort to take a home test, but I hate it so much, hurts like hell. Good luck with it. Take it as easy as possible (as easy as you can get away with, really, be ruthless if necessary). Even if initially you don't feel too bad. If you need to sleep, sleep for as long as required. A fair few anecdotes and some (fairly recent and admittedly small scale) evidence suggests that full rest during the infection period slightly lessens your chances of ongoing issues/long covid. EDIT NinpoEspiritoSanto posted:Wishing you a quick recovery, I got it for the first time 3 weeks ago and still trying to shake the post covid malaise I was still having issues a month later and still wasn't 100% at six weeks. Again, try to rest as humanly possible. Covid really does seem to respond pretty well to genuine rest (or, to put it another way, it responds very badly to just trying to power through)

I argued for a while but it was no use lol, "that's foreign we don't accept that, it needs to be in English" and all that. Like I can see the logic since it's not in English so they rely on me telling them which date is the correct one. Still boiled my piss to no end. Incredible. If they can't support the elderly then they have truly reached their nadir, where they can do nothing but eat themselves. I can't hope for that much, but it would be truly amazing if they really did sink far enough that the SNP became the official opposition. The roiling steam of gammon-scented piss would blot out the sun.
