yeah the discussion I've seen of it elsewhere is a bunch of people saying it's probably a fake (very easy to do with a filter) or if not, that it's made by someone who knows what they're doing but probably has a unhealthy disregard for their own safety, which apparently describes quite a lot of the people who'd be in a position to get something like that in the first place If it's real then they mightve burned their hand a bit, but unless they've had it sitting open for ages next to them, or done something dumb like held it right up to their eye to see what's inside, they're probably fine.

There was a good write up in the Cold War thread which I can’t be bothered to copy over. But the tldr is radiation should only produce bright spots, not bright and dark spots.

Which a rad source would not do. I was wrong it was the osha thread I was reading it in. So we're talking 'a dental X-ray worth of exposure over 20 minutes' ish, I remain unimpressed
