SECRET TECHNIQUE:
DARK SHADOW
BLACK FALLEN ANGEL!

Having pretty good luck with this destruction deck:

# (1) Squirrel Girl
# (1) Angel
# (1) Iceman
# (1) Nova
# (2) Bucky Barnes
# (2) Carnage
# (2) Wolverine
# (3) Sabretooth
# (3) Deathlok
# (4) Sandman
# (5) White Tiger
# (6) Doctor Doom

Any recommendations on what could be better? Iceman is just filler and I feel like there's probably something more useful than Squirrel Girl. Doom is my only Pool 3 card.

Y mantis over agent 13? Am curious.

So, I could be off here, but she's not too hard to proc and I value getting a card from the opponents deck pretty highly. We are all card game geniuses here and we all know the Miller's Fallacy -- I'm just as likely to grab my opponent's win-con as I am the card that was keeping them from drawing their win-con.

That said, decks in this game are extremely consistent -- you draw at least 75% by the end of every game, and typically at least half the cards in it get played. By turn 4 or so, once the gameplan is established and the heavy hitters start coming out, you probably have an idea of what the rest of their deck looks like and can typically narrow down what your opponent's next move will be to 3 or 4 different options. Being able to eliminate one card you know they won't be playing can help you make informed, game-winning decisions on those really impactful turns, and keep in mind this is already in a deck with a lot of reactive cards that wins by limiting an opponent's options.

This is also while I think Yondu (while probably still not great) at least has an interesting effect in this game, while in Hearthstone or Magic or something milling the top card of an opponent's deck would have basically zero value on its own. With him, though, both players know what card is gone, while with Mantis you're the only one who knows (to say nothing of the card advantage). This is basically also why I think Apocalypse is a trap in pool 2, at least in the context of the cube system -- if I know you've got a game-winning 20 power 6-drop in hand on the last turn I'm just gonna retreat if I don't have an answer for it.

edit: And I'd be lying if I didn't say that, fallacies aside, it feels really loving good to snipe somebody's win condition

Here's my mid pool 2 destruction deck:

# (1) Elektra [A bit of a tech, but there's enough annoying 1 drops that I miss her when I don't have her. Carnage fodder.]
# (1) Nova [Core. Exists to be destroyed.]
# (2) Bucky Barnes [Core. Also exists to be destroyed. Carnage fodder, too.]
# (2) Colossus [Immune to destroy, so I can play him with Deathlok/Carnage. Also good for locations that cause a power drop like Sewer System, Negative Zone etc.]
# (2) Wolverine [Immune to destroy in a different way.]
# (2) Okoye [bit experimental, but a small body who provides some good stats. Carnage fodder.]
# (2) Forge [Carnage fodder and can buff Colossus, Carnage, Mister Sinister, etc.]
# (2) Mister Sinister [Carnage fodder or a 2/4 by himself. Great with Forge.]
# (2) Carnage [Core. One of your Destroy sources, and can eat a lot of the other cards for equal or better value.]
# (3) Deathlok [Core. A big body and another of your Destroy sources.]
# (3) Killmonger [Zoo counter, your third destroy source (albeit for Nova only). Hilarious results can often be had playing this on Turn 6.]
# (6) The Infinaut [I'm still a little sketchy on this guy. Could sub in The Hulk instead. Basically a big stick to win locations with at the last minute, but the turn restriction is fiddly to play around.]

Notably, it has a lower curve and tries to play everything at once. Few 1-drops, since they have antisynergy with Killmonger, but many 2-drops/etc. Are you getting enough power on board regularly?

You don't have to have Killmonger. He improves your Nova turn and Zoo matchup, but you could put in something else that you think could work.

Been trying out a Destroyer deck and it's fun but seems really RNG dependent

# (1) Angel

# (2) Bucky Barnes
# (2) Armor
# (2) Colossus
# (2) Wolverine
# (4) Dracula
# (4) Typhoid Mary
# (5) Professor X
# (6) Destroyer

My main Strat is to get all the destroyable cards into one lane, anything I want in another with either Armor or Xavier, and then drop Destroyer in the third. Dracula and Zero+Mary are mostly there as backups. Feels like I'm missing a piece though

Is Infininaut working out for you? It feels like he either wants Sunspot to make skipping T5 bearable or Jubilee to cheat him out. IMO if you're just looking for a 6-drop with raw stats, you'd be best-off with America Chavez here. Nothing else in your deck really cares about the 6-drop slot, and her effect improves your draw quality and the chance of you hitting your early curve which is important here.

Nope. I think it was possible to get a Venom variant from the current season pass as one of your random variants even if you didn't own the original, which would unlock him early and explain it if you've seen people running him.

I switched to Hulk. Infinaut was too clunky, and while I've seen the math on Chavez, I don't always find myself wanting a straight 9-drop on turn 6 as opposed to a combo piece. Hulk is the backup plan, but he's a passable backup plan.

No, it's a Carnage variant. Season Passes would be a good way for them to be gradually make Pool 3 cards available to newer players though - get a new card, get an old card without waiting for the lottery to spit it out.

Cards which boost themselves when they’re revealed are also very good. If you use Feral, Carnage, etc it’s the boosted version which gets out in your hand so you can boost them again when you replay them.

Id disagree. I’d say he works well in Pool 2 once you have a couple of cards that synergise well. Sunspot will absorb the weakness of not playing anything turn 5 and can be an unexpected boost to a pane while Jubilee can pull him in on turn 4. The earlier you use this team in pool 2 the better I think as it will be more novel against the players you play against and they’re less likely to have Shang Chi to counter.

I went ahead into pool 3 and finally got over my ranking hump from the past few days to clear rank 70 running my own zoo/swarm (the playstyle, not the nazi made of bees) number and have run into maybe two or three Killmongers and only one that actually made a difference in the past 24 hours. It's very easy to get people to prematurely smash down a few 1-drops thinking they're cutting out the footholds when actually the entire ladder is still in my hand.

Also Nova+Carnage is just gross on Cloning Vats. I love it.

I finally clawed my way to rank 50.
Been stuck in the mid-40s due to a combination of going in on some bad Double Snaps and opponent's retreating on turn 6 or sooner and leaving me with just the one cube.

I'm at CL 497, which I didn't realize until just now. Key cards are Infinaut, Sunspot and Jubilee. Jubilee is your backup plan for turn 4 if you haven’t pulled Infinaut. Sunspot is to synergise with Infinaut skipping turn 5.

Armour is there to protect Sunspot from Killmonger (and maybe Infinaut in case of Shang chi).

Some combination of Angela, Wolfsbane, Warpath and Lizard were there to help go big in one lane and scare the opponent away from it so that I can then win one of the other two lanes on turn 6 with Infinaut.

The rest of the cards are fairly interchangeable and I think most of them I picked because when I last played it I’d just pulled Scorpion so thought I’d go for a harassment to fill out the deck. Nightcrawler was mostly so I had the option of having something in a third lane or triggering Warpath as an option late on.

I did as well or better with this deck then most of the ones I’ve made, sticking around the mid 50’s.

I don't like that as a Jubilee deck as it only has one big target for her. Try this:

Korg, Agent 13, Iceman
Okoye, Armor/Collector (flex), Cable
Jubilee, Moon Girl
Devil Dinosaur
Hulk/Odin (flex), America Chavez, The Infinaut

Basic idea is to play a couple of cheap cards for presence and disruption, hopefully getting Moon Girl and Jubilee by turn 4. Moon Girl then fills your hand completely so you can't draw any more of your top end, and you play Jubilee on turn 5 and also turn 6 if you haven't drawn Infinaut or Devil Dino. Amy Chav is in the deck so Jubilee always has something to hit. The flex slots are a pair - either you want Armor and Hulk to lean more Jubilee, or Collector and Odin to play more as a Moonosaur.

I’m mid pool 2 and decks are definitely quality over quantity now so lizard is pretty good now. 5 is enough pressure that a lot of time your opponent has to commit resources or give up the lane. If they do play 4 cards in his lane then it’s still a 2 for 2

Basically the plan is to rush out Sandman asap, win 2 lanes and then Aero into their winning lane, or get within 4 of their other lanes and win with Dr. Doom. I think Sandman doesn’t bloom until pool 3 but I think you could run Infinaut in this list and do okay.

Is it generally recommended to continuously upgrade your cards to level up your collection? Is there a recommended rarity to stop at?

There’s a min/max way to do it (greys are 50% off) but in my experience it’s just best to dump all your credits every day upgrading cards you like. The more you upgrade, the faster you’ll finish your collection.
