I'm on the East Coast, so I don't know how the public transit is out on the West Coast, though. In actual LA, which I have seen, there is almost no public transit. I think there might be buses somewhere or other, but most of getting around is done by the infamous LA freeways— and it takes an hour to get anywhere! In Japanifornia, who knows? I think I remember Maya mentioning she took the train to get to Phoenix's office at one point.

I have played enough video games set in modern Tokyo to assume that any implied transit happens via train and, in the occasions where that would be implausible, taxi.

Part 52: Episode 3, Day 2, Investigation: At Last, a Clue! Music: Silence We've escaped the director, and after looking around the employee area again and not finding anything, we're headed back to the main gate. Sound: Guilty Gah! You again! Sound: Whack Eeeek! Sound: Stab 2 Sound: Damage 2 You... certainly got back to your post quickly. Oh the police took me away, they did. They pulled out a spare Steel Samurai costume! Told me to "put it on." Can you imagine? Sound: Whack Mr. Powers is pretty tall... (I guess that would rule out her being the murderer.) Anyway! I'm not liking our chances of getting the key to the Studio Two trailer. Sound: Whack You sure are talking a lot for someone with sealed lips. Starting now! One, two, three, mmmph! Sound: Whack Sound: Whoops quote:In case you were wondering, Oldbag only returns to her post once we've both met the director and heard the crash at Studio Two. Music: Investigation - Opening I can't imagine asking nicely will help here, but what the heck. The security guard station. I can see the computer that runs the security cameras. Sound: Whack (Guess I'd better investigate there later...) We do still get to ask some questions. Not sure there will be any answers though. Umm, about that kid you said you saw... Sound: Whack Sound: Light Bulb The Oldbag is always serious, Maya. About the director, the one who was here on the day of the murder... Sound: Whack That's not a repeated image, she really just has the same line and reaction there. Sound: Light Bulb Well, we did kind of get her hauled off to the detention center for questioning. I'm just kind of impressed she showed up back at work right away. Let's remind her of who we are again. Aww, you're no fun Phoenix. After running around to check on the rest of the studio again, we wind up back at the employee area. Sound: Light Bulb I think we found our fanboy! Sound: Whack After him! Maybe he saw something that will help us! Music: The Steel Samurai Maya have you never talked to a child before? Sound: Super Shock Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Whack What a rude little brat. That's no way to talk to an adult! Just go right out and call him a whippersnapper, Maya. Sound: Damage 2 H-hippie fashion...? Sound: Whoops And he's doing a good job of it, too. (You got to hand it to Maya, she's pretty sharp. And pretty mad...) I'm Cody! Cody Hackins. Let's not upset the crazy not-kid with the maybe-real sword. Before we talk with Cody, we can examine the drain again. The drain where the fanboy came in. Very true! If you've been paying attention to the plot triggers, it's pretty obvious that meeting Cody can only happen if we tear off that drain repair. (This scene is available as soon as we see Oldbag at the main gate.) Forget talking to this guy, I want to see what's on his camera. Ah well, I guess we'll get there eventually. So, you're a fan of the Steel Samurai? Sound: Whack What do you mean? We're on the Steel Samurai's side! Sound: Whack Yikes, take it down a notch kid. Oh no we're having a nerd battle. Sound: Light Bulb Hmph... not bad, kiddy-o. Sound: Realization Watch it! (What are they doing!?) Say, you heard anything about the incident the other day? ... You were here, weren't you? ... Did you see anything...? ? Sound: Super Shock Yeah, I saw 'em! I saw everything! Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Stab 2 Sound: Whack Wha--!? Wait... Sound: Light Bulb Lemme go! Sound: Damage 1 Aaannd he's gone. Music: Silence ... He's gone. Huh? Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Realization Why was this sitting there, I wonder? Sound: Select Jingle Sleeping pills! I was right, our client was totally drugged! No one noticed the bottle until now? And the killer didn't think to take it back or hide it? Anyway, what was that kid saying? He "saw everything"... quote:Cody ran off before we could show him our attorney's badge, but he has the same reaction to that and everything else we have: Well I think there's more to uncover with this kid, but at least we finally have some new evidence!

Part 53: Episode 3, Day 2, Investigation: Fetch Quest The director doesn't care about our new find, let's go show it around elsewhere. Never mind, we've got some action at the main gate! Where's that old windbag? Odd of her to leave her post... Nick! That was her! Sound: Realization Y-yeah. Sounds like she's chasing after that boy. Sound: Thud 4 Uh oh, she tripped! Sound: Light Bulb (Maya sure looks happy...) The plot triggers in this episode haven't made a lot of narrative sense, but these last two really work. We have to open the drain gate and get Ms. Oldbag to show up in order for the fanboy to appear, and then run off the fanboy to get Ms. Oldbag to chase him and leave the main gate unguarded. Anyway, let's snoop around the guard station again... Hey, hey, Nick. Good idea. ... Oh! Sound: Light Bulb This is it, Nick! Sound: Realization The key to that trailer in Studio Two! We'll be borrowing this, right, Nick? No one has anything to say about either of our new acquisitions, so we head over to Studio Two to unlock the trailer. ... It opened. Sound: Light Bulb Great! Let's go, Nick! (She seems eager all of a sudden...) Well, you first, Nick! (Ah, not THAT eager.) Let's just look at the door one more time first. The trailer door. It's unlocked. Well, let's go in! Looks like a weird conference room, with some movie posters? Oh, hello. Eek! Sound: Light Bulb S-someone's in here! O-our n-names? Um, w-we're WP's lawyers, and, um... I see. ... A-and who might you...? Our second target! She doesn't seem all that talkative, though... Geez Phoenix, keep it under control today, will you? As usual we'll poke around first. It looks like they were designing a set to use for the Steel Samurai show. I can't believe they spend that much money on those sets! The glass is frosted. I can't see outside. Riveting... This is where they had that meeting. There are documents and paper cups scattered around. That's an oddly-large water bottle on the table, but no prompts for it. Nothing in here that could be a clue. Just some paper cups and crumpled documents. Come on, where are the dumb criminals that throw away key evidence but leave it in plain sight? (Yes, I realize we just found an empty bottle of sleeping pills lying around last update.) Another old movie poster. "'The Singing Samurai' starring Jack Hammer." Guess our victim really did used to be a star, and in a samurai movie no less. Oh. My. God. Sound: Light Bulb Mr. Hammer was a very accomplished singer, you know. Singing samurai stars... What's next? Ninja ballet? Too many references to Hammer's former stardom for it to not be a plot point somehow. Although I would totally watch a ninja ballet. "'Samurai Summer' starring Jack Hammer." This poster's quite old. Sound: Light Bulb It was one of those typical summer romance stories... but it was great! A typical summer romance... with a samurai on a horse? An old movie poster. I guess Mr. Hammer used to be quite the star. Is this place a shrine to Hammer or something? Whatever, let's talk to Ms. Vasquez. I was wondering if you could tell me about the day of the murder... ... ... M-Ms. Vasquez? Sound: Realization E-excuse me? Script. I'm looking for a script. A s-script? I need it. I need to read it. ... ... ... (We're getting nowhere fast.) The heck with this lady? Music: The Steel Samurai ... ... Ms. Vasquez? That's all I have to say about that. Music: Silence Sound: Super Shock Hey, don't get mad at me. Ms. Vasquez hasn't even looked at us yet, she just keeps smoking her long pipe. About the director... Sal Manella, was it? What, er, exactly is his role here...? I'm looking for a script. I can't be bothered with anything else. ... Nick? Sound: Realization It's starting to look like it. With our conversation exhausted, Maya's had enough... There is? Y-yeah. Wait. Sound: Light Bulb Y-yes? W-why do we have to do your errands...! Sound: Whack ... ... ... I tell you what, all that "..." conversation in the thread earlier was really premature, you all should have waited for this update! Sound: Whoops Don't cry. She'll take it as a sign of weakness. Alright. We'll give it to him if we see him. Did we just get sent on a fetch quest? Hey, lady, we're an attorney, you know! Not in our badge or in anything else we have, apparently. Oh well. Back to the director I guess? But first, the profile for the producer. What makes a producer "high-ranking," I wonder? Maya and Will don't care about the memo, so we're back at the employee area. Music: The Steel Samurai I didn't think we'd have to talk to this guy again so soon... Music: Silence Sound: Realization Huh? "Bring me the script for Episode 13"? Episode 13... where did I put that one? ... I must have left it somewhere... *sweats* Music: The Steel Samurai Nick... I agree. Well I guess it's time for a hunt. Seems like a good spot for some audience participation, too. Where should we look? Bonus points if you post with why you chose that location!

Part 54: Episode 3, Day 2, Investigation: Getting a Head Not as many people willing to guess here, but the ones that did have the right idea. I started off examining random things in the employee area and the main gate, before using a tried-and-true adventure tactic... Music: Silence Go everywhere and see if anything has changed! Entering Studio One again gives us a new scene, indicating we're on the right track. Let's find what we need and get out of here quick, Nick. This item is the only thing we can examine that has lost its check mark, indicating new text. Did anyone guess that the script would be in the director's chair? Sound: Light Bulb I've always wanted to sit in one of these. Nothing different so far, but... Sound: Realization Phoenix puts it together! Maya... Didn't he say he'd left it somewhere? Sound: Realization Sound: Stab Sound: Light Bulb Good work! Music: The Steel Samurai Of course, we're going to show it to everyone but the producer first. Only the director has a reaction, though: We found your script. Sound: Light Bulb Some creepy tongue animation for you. I had to see it, so do you. S-still... I dunno... Say, um, j00 think j00 d00dz could take it down there for me? THX! (Well, she's certainly not NORMAL...) Music: Silence Anyway, the producer is the one who really wanted this thing. Ah. Farewell, script, we hardly knew ye. ... ... Umm... uh... Quiet. I'm reading. quote:While we wait, a quick note on sequencing here. We had to visit the director first in order for the script to be findable at Studio One. However we did not have to show the script to the director before showing it to the producer; we could have come straight back here. ...! Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Super Shock Who do you think you are anyway!? And, and do you even know who we are!? ... Sound: Realization We're the people who put away Redd White, and we'll get you next! Umm... right. Sound: Light Bulb Am I a suspect? ... Music: Suspense Y-yes. Anything you could tell us would be a big help. ... Yes. With the director and the people from the network... Correct. Now, listen closely. Yeah, that's basically what the director said. You are all each other's alibi, yet still felt the need to tell everyone not to mention you were there that day. Hmm, that's new... Impossible? Why? The path was blocked. Sound: Realization The... path? Sound: Realization Music: Silence For some reason, the conversation ends there, and we have to go back into the talk screen to follow up on that topic. You saw Mr. Monkey on the way here, correct? M-"Mr. Monkey"? The monkey with the broken head. Music: Investigation - Core They didn't start moving the head out of the way until after 3:00. It was after 4:00 by the time the path was unblocked. Capice? Still a lot of holes in that theory. We don't have any real evidence that everyone was actually in the trailer when that happened. Or when it happened, even. And it doesn't seem all that hard for someone to just go around off the path? Also why didn't the director mention any of this "blocked path" stuff? Stuck in this trailer. Stuck until after 4:00. Hammer died at 2:30. Sound: Damage 2 It's true. A crane came just after 3:00 to move the head. Just the kind of evidence that Edgeworth and the judge will eat up, unfortunately. B-but wait! What if the head fell over after 2:30? Phoenix is on a roll today, finding the hole before trial even. 2:30... the time of death. ... Music: Silence Very well. Come. Music: Investigation - Core Suddenly we're back outside, where the statue's head fell off. That's "Mr. Monkey." Sound: Realization Sounds really annoying and really convenient for your story... (It IS a monkey, after all.) Check its head. The clock inside stopped when it broke. ...! Sound: Light Bulb Music: Silence Sound: Realization 2:15...? Music: Investigation - Core That's right. Therefore, we're innocent. Mr. Hammer died in Studio One at 2:30... See? Good bye. Music: Silence We've got a head! Or at least, the data from it. It's looking like tomorrow's trial is going to be a lot like today's version - more arguing that no one but Will Powers could have gone to Studio One to commit the murder. What do we do, Nick? It's over... We're finished! (It sure doesn't look good.) Do we ever have a strategy beyond just hoping the witness says something obviously wrong? Now that we know a little bit more about this monkey, we can examine it again. Yet another clock that looks like a statue! This game is obsessed with those. It would usually tell the time by "ook"ing. The clock is stopped at 2:15 now. This is the path that goes to Studio Two. The path was completely blocked between 2:00 and 4:00. I really want to take a break, but we have work to do! Kind of like if you threw a party, and nobody came. All right, enough fooling around. I went back to the trailer to see if we could get any more out of Ms. Vasquez, but she's no longer around. I guess we'll next see her at the trial. Neither Sal nor Will cared about our new severed statue head evidence, so we head back to the office. Now what... We're fresh out of clues. Let's just keep ignoring the empty bottle of sleeping pills that we picked up. Things are looking pretty grim. Sound: Realization Huh? Sound: Light Bulb You've got one lead... Oh look, Mia's back!
