fast cars loose anus posted:It's fascinating to me that this sport is so wed to the idea of human mistakes being part of the game that creating them is regarded as a super-important skill for at least one position What's funny is how valued framing is by teams and how announcers still whine about every single strike that K-zone disagrees with.

i am sure it's different segments of the fanbase who believe this but it's funny to see the amount of distance between "framing is a vital, valuable, and cool skill for catchers" and "more than anything else, we need robot umpires"

Well they're both technically true its just that if we ever do the second thing it will invalidate the first thing from that moment forward

Hm the Astros non tendered Josh James. It's a shame, I always thought he had the makings of what Bryan Abreu ended up becoming I'm sure someone will take a chance on being able to fix a guy who's about to turn 30, throws 99 with a sick slider but has serious control issues

His work in the fall league was similarly limited, with just 10 2/3 innings in five outings. (He allowed one run and struck out 16.) But the stuff the 6-2 righty possesses was apparent.

I feel like I’ve been hearing the ‘people are impressed with Jasson Dominguez’s skills’ while he’s putting up pretty pedestrian numbers in A ball for years now Fortunately for him he’s really young still

Kind of surprised there isn't a pre-existing wing of the hall for every pitcher who has thrown a perfect game. Even if it's just a summation of the game and a picture, that seems like the cool 'can't tell the history of baseball without it' thing that should be in the hall.

Put him in the hall for taking like 5 seconds between pitches.
