Are there any blackjack games that don't have ads and aren't gacha games. I just want to play blackjack, maybe simulate a couple players so I have something to compete against and practice counting cards? I'm willing to pay money.

There are three open-source blackjack games on f-droid so maybe try those.
I can't speak for the quality but at least they are guaranteed to be free from the awful predatory monetization you'd expect in any casino-themed mobile game.

Those seem neat, but I want something that actually simulates drawing from a deck and I can't tell if any of those do (as in, if I get the ace of spades I know the ace of spades won't occur again until I'm notified the deck has been reshuffled, instead of just an RNG picking one of 52 cards every new hand.)

They are open source, you can just check. I know neither Js nor Blackjack, so I can't easily do that for you.
I looked at the first one, and you can set it to deal from one deck. It defaults to dealing from 6 decks.

Seconding the XCOM ports; they play well on Android.

But also I love Polytopia which is a mobile rear end tactics game. It superficially looks like a Civilization type of thing, but it's so simplified, it's essentially pure tactics. Free to start with four nations (no ads), and additional ones cost a couple bucks each and go on sale regularly.

If you have the Google Store Play Pass subscription thingy, Polytopia is on there and includes all the tribes.

I played the poo poo out of it for like a week before I was able to figuratively see the spreadsheet behind everything and lost interest.

I'm surprised you fell off so quick. I feel the different tribes and terrains mix it up enough to force you to adapt. And the modes too offer solid challenges. But congrats on solving it I guess.

Ah that's different. I play a few matches every few months these days, but every time I'm always surprised at how well it's held up. Also I'm surprised they're still developing it and adding/tweaking rules. Like diplomacy was not a thing at all when I first started.

its a semi fun turn based squad game... nothing revolutionary but im enjoying it - problem is I cant find any information for it online anywhere and Im stuck in chapter 5 exploration and need help!

Theres a locked door that has 2 lights left on it, and I happen to be missing two souls from that map so I assume if I get the last two souls the last two lights go out and the door opens but I can not find them anywhere and I have canvased the map multiple times, spoken to everyone, etc etc If anyones played and gotten past chapter 5 let me know.

Zombies, Run! is probably close to what you're looking for, but I haven't used it since 2015 or so. It used to require you to carry your phone, maybe it has Fitbit or smartwatch integration now?

Are there any games that are like Kingdom of Loathing for Android? I suppose most "idle rpgs" would fit the description, although I'm looking for something with more typical rpg "flavour" and less raw "watch number go up" skinner box sorta style I suppose. Maybe something with a slight bit more interactivity than the normal idle game? Idk really. Hope this makes sense anyway!

Yes, I have. What version of the Xbone controller? Gen 3 with micro USB, or Gen 4 with USB-C? I've heard the Gen 3 Bluetooth isn't quite up to par and can cause issues. I'm using a Gen 4 on my tablet with no issues.

I don't really know. It's got micro USB, so at least not gen 4. Could be 2 or 3, I guess.

I saw Stacklands show up in the new top charts for games on Android and got excited but it looks like this is literally an unrelated dev porting the game to android shittily and then charging money for it on top of serving tons of ads once you get in the game? This "nova.pig" developer also has "Peglin 2" available for purchase for $4. At least "Crazy ArrowLegend" is not just called "Archero". Uh, how can they get away with this?

Awesome to have this on the go, and it looks to drat near the full version for free. Vertically oriented rather than portrait, but perfectly playable...
except
Even on my Pixel 6, not old by any means, the game definitely seems to have a tiny bit of input lag, which wouldn't be a major issue except in a game like VS you sometimes need to make some snap movement decisions.

There's a toggle in the options to play in landscape, should you ever want your phone to be harder to hold while playing the game.

yeah you can upgrade whip to do front/back whiping , but basic staring whip is just the direction you're moving. it gets better it's a little slow of a grind but once you start upgrading poo poo it is real real fun to just murder crowds of poo poo.
"Synergies" is also a key thing to learn and pick up as you get your powerups

I assume that there's no way to import PC saves to the android version since they have ad viewing mechanics in the mobile port? I never made it too far into VS because I spent most of my time with it very early in EA but man it is a drag starting out from scratch.

This has thankfully confirmed to me that I'll likely not be buying the game on Steam. I understand that it's dirt cheap, but I'm not getting anything out of this that magic survival already gave me, and I'm definitely done with that.

I'm assuming that there's no fundamental difference between the two games? I've gotten to the 10 minute mark.

The biggest difference to me seems to be that in Magic Survival XP is scattered around the map, forcing you to go new places but in Vampire Survivors XP is dropped by monsters, forcing you to largely stay in one place. But since "places" aren't especially meaningful in either game, it's not much of a distinction.

The combos and unlocks make it quite a bit different imo than magical survival. It does start off meh as the whip and starting character suck.

Also XP periodically gets grouped up regardless of distance so you never truly lose any XP

The very beginning starting out VS is really slow and boring compared to Magic Survival. Speaking as someone who is doing that right now having seen like 20 hours in it's a totally different thing once you start to get upgrades. And I haven't even seen like any of the "new" stuff that got added throughout early access. I'm extremely curious to see how phones can handle some of the insane later game builds that can turn PC's into slideshows.
