That would be cool, but the engine doesn't really support that kind of gameplay. A space multiplayer that did operate on multiple scales like that would be sweet though.

If you do wanna feel your scale, don't forget to mess with the space fov, it can make a huge difference to how different sized ships feel to pilot, visually speaking.

I don't know if anyone here got a Franklin frigate but that thing is tiny as hell. I think it's actually relatively movie accurate.

Pretty sure its smaller than a defiant but I didn't park mine next to one to check.

(again scale is one of those "but playability" things)

I got it in the legendary bundle and yeah, that fucker is TINY. I don't use it much ,but when I do I always laugh at how much I have to slap the scroll wheel to zoom in.

My favorite tiny ship to fly is the Oberth. That thing's only a little bigger than the runabout model, comparable to the Mesh Weaver.

I've got the Franklin, yeah, it's ridiculously small.

It's meant to be 137m, but unlike the Defiant that includes pylons and nacelles sticking out behind and it's not a solid brick.

I assume the old Aquarius is smaller. That's gotta be the smallest Fed ship. Would it be the smallest overall? Or is that one of the tholians. How big is Book's ship in-game?

I'm pretty sure the meshweaver is still the smallest non-shuttle playable ship (and its smaller than a few of those...) but the aquarius and a handful of other things are roughly equivalent.

They've been buggy for as long as they've existed, and I low-key hate that they're now forcing the system onto everyone. I'm still not confident that they've fixed the bugs that would let loadouts eat equipment, either.

Oh huh that might be the cause. Sounds absurd enough to be plausible since Cryptic. In this case it might have been from T5 to T6 or vice versa since I was puttering around in the Meshweaver for a while after it came up the other night.

T5 to T6 really was amazing, the first T6 ships were the hideous Intel ships for Delta Rising and over the last several years they got everyone to pay a second time for T6 versions of the 5s they already had.

Full Lukari set on the Qulash class is interesting. Very different from the base Elachi aesthetic, but nevertheless works with the hull design surprisingly well.

The Qulash is a really nice boat in general to be honest, especially for a freebie. It's a raider-cruiser hybrid so its fast and nimble and has the usual insanely flexible seating but it's also not made of tissue paper and has the important cruiser commands. And as noted, it handles shield graphics surprisingly well as a bonus.

I used it for a while off and on with my Reman main since it fits the STO rom story pretty well. There's a few different ones that make it look like a pretty good romulan/elachi hybrid like the kelvin legend shield or the romulan set shield from the rep that everyone forgets about because the reman one is flashier.

I don’t really know that I’ve ever seen someone flying a Negh’var regularly. I’m sure someone is, but it and the raptors and the vor’cha variants tend to rarely pop up in ESD space hangout or ds9 or random tfos.

I guess I’m just saying though that STO really hasn’t added much to the Klingon ship lexicon that’s gotten any traction.

I really like the Koro'tinga, it feels like a plausible TNG-era evolution of the K'tinga and I wish it would show up in the background of Lower Decks or something. The Mogh is pretty neat too.

God beams need some improvements badly. I mean I know it's not a new thing but it's painful to go back to a broadside beamboat after flying escorts for a while. It's telling that it's noticably faster to slap cannons onto some lumbering space whale and kill things faster than beams even including the seconds of turning the loving thing around to face the enemy.

Dual beam banks + overload build + something with a lot of miracle worker for the +50% damage bonus that mixed synergy single rear mounted turret gives you.

Whether its a fleet sabre or the inquiry class once you get that far in the biggest factor in killing enemies is lag more than DPS.

Actually it's probably lag regardless of what your build is.

They're not as optimal as cannons in other content, but they're extremely optimal at letting me barely look at the screen while tapping spacebar.

It's entirely possible I'm mixing them up with another specific STO creep from that era, as it has been a long time. I'm thinking of the person who used to run HOBO. We used to find a lot of things on public facebook accounts beloning to shall we say certain individuals back in the day. Easily verifiable because they did things like share usernames and write about their STO hobbies. Amongst other things.

Don't post your life online folks.

Pretty sure they weren't that young even back then. Some people (read: old goons) may have also used to also infiltrate various closed mumble et al servers with puppet accounts. I mean, supposedly. You'd see some interesting chat logs get shared back by various goons. Supposedly. The best was when they'd sit in a private voice channel and pipe everything back to the entirely different server we were on.

Edit - if anyone remembers the "broke rear end washing machine" video where he was filming his wife talking about the laundry, then pretending to BE his wife in STO, its that person.

Haha I love these stories. I know poison Ivey would comment on some of Nbreekis YouTube content using his real name account. He would also apparently be complaining about Starfleet Dental, Butts etc on completely unrelated videos, like on call of duty troll compilations, almost as if he thought all trolls were the same group of 40 or so people led by butts.

I may be wrong but I thought the leader of HOBO was called Lina Mia in game. All I remember from them was their character had massive tits and they would post their private dance/erp sessions to YouTube. If I remember right they weren't very happy when we opened the tier5 starbase to the public using the NoPpublic service channel, and undermined them charging people for access. Good times.

I think its possible we're both mixing up the names at this point. 10 years is 10 years. Wasn't like committing the fine details to memory was a priority.

That wasn’t Ivey or LinaMia, it was some other loser, name started with a C. Ivey was the one whose friend died in a goating accident, and the last I had heard, he’d suffered a mental break, his mother made him stop playing, and he was getting the help he needed to get on with real life. Sad to see him backslide.
