I admit streaks have to run out eventually, but there's a lot of very comfortable betting against James Cameron here, and he often comes out on top when that does happen. I mean, it's not like this didn't already happen! We had an Avatar come out, and it made a gently caressload of money. I suspect it'll happen again and everyone will be just as confused as the first time.

The reported budget is still only $250m despite all that. I don't know who's getting robbed there. 3D being new and not done well before it was a big thing for Avatar at the time. Today people hate it and its price premium and actively avoid it.

It is here. The theaters paid for the tech, so they still try to get that extra $3 out of you by making all the best showtimes 3D.

Yeah, Avatar Land is going to take space from Star Wars Land and also all the space in between them. Avatar Land is going to be 5 square miles. Disneyland is spread over multiple locations and you have to drive between them? You have to go over a loving cloverleaf interchange to get from one side of Disneyland to another? That sucks so much.

No, that's World. Land is in California. Each park has separate admission, most people don't change parks during the day. You can buy park hopper tickets, but people who do that usually leave their car parked where they first went in and use the Disney buses, boats, monorail or skyliner (a gondola.)

I think a big draw of Avatar for the general public is the "you have to see it in theaters" type hype that comes with it. Yeah people said the same thing for Top Gun Maverick but it hits a bit differently for "most expensive movie ever made and its 3d from visionary writer/director/special effects guy/sound guy/submarine movie guy/done every job in hollywood JAMES CAMERON"
