Unless I was still being paid fat stacks by the lovely team, if I were Taylor's family I'd be on the phone with the lawyers the second I saw that poo poo for a cease and desist.

Haha that is so loving tacky and thrown together at the last second.

One element that shows how :effort: they went with this is that the jersey and pants have different manufacturer logos and markings. The jersey is a Nike one with what looks like the flywire collar, which would make it from 2013-2016 (They had a partially red collar when Nike first took over in 2012, and dropped the flywire in 2017), but the pants have the Reebok logo from 2002-2011, which at least would be correct for what they wore when Sean Taylor played...

Man the Washington assholes are incredibly bad at this. Sean Taylor was a pure legend and they didn’t have the respect to do ONE thing that was specific to his style? They put up a brand New Jersey lmao

Some quick googling says the helmet and shoes are at least correct. It's got the right facemask, and there's some pictures of him wearing Adidas cleats.

The jersey annoys me the most since at minimum it's from at least 6 years after his death and just reeks of something they had laying around or could get as quickly/cheaply as possible. IIRC, it's been mentioned a few times that the organization had always held off on doing anything to honor Taylor until they absolutely needed something to generate some good will, and that feels like a jersey they had made during RGIII's second year when he was hurt and they might have needed it, only for it to sit in storage for another decade.

So, a cast sculpture is hard to do from just photographs, and Sean Taylor is not available for sittings. But if this is really meant to be a sculpture, well, an abstract wireframe in a static pose is very depersonalized. You can read the wireframe as an artistic statement about, like, the void left behind by his death, but I’m not sure that this kind of “statue” is an appropriate place for that statement; also, a more dynamic pose would have gotten that message across effectively without reading as a mannequin.

If this is just a display of his uniform, a mannequin is appropriate, but they should not call that a statue, and they should really be using actual game-worn equipment, which it sounds like they aren’t.

The Broncos have one of the few backups in the league that might actually be worse than Wilson.
