Obligatory hollywood romance subplots are mostly tacked-on crap that doesn't harmonize with the rest of the plot, and the fact that they constantly reinforce the Good Guy Gets The Girl is more than a little responsible for incels and the like. Plenty of movies have a good romantic element as part of the plot, but for every one that does, 50 miss the mark.

Electroboom is a professional EE who knows exactly what he's doing in all of his videos (at least from the electrical standpoint). When stuff blows up he's doing it intentionally as a joke, and when he's shocked he's usually taken precautions to make sure it will just be painful, not dangerous. That said, there are a couple of cases where he's gotten bitten. I think he is pretty foolhardy to not wear safety glasses or gloves when he's got thousands of volts exposed on his bench. But I still like him a lot.
