sad question posted:Wasn't Worms WMD supposed to be good? WMD is fun yeah, especially once they added the ability to include all the weird crafted altermate versions of weapons into the default weapon lineups, adds a lot of variety in there. I found Reloaded (the 2010 one) and WMD to be the best post-Armageddon 2D Worms games, we've put in a few hundred hours into 'em total with a friend of mine over the years and still play WMD matches here and there. Is Total War: Three Kingdoms worth a look if I want to play a Three Kingdoms board game? I know it has low unit variety, but I loving loved Romance of the Three Kingdoms with all the stupid diplomatic poo poo and pang tong setting every loving square on fire every single time I tried to kidnap him.

How do you feel about Total War games in general? I'd say it's one of the better ones mechanically, but it also tries to do a lot of things very differently from the others - namely being more character/diplomacy focused. That being said, don't expect diplomacy rivaling ROT3K. It's more of a Total War game with ROT3K flavor than a ROT3K game with Total War flavor. You can do some wacky diplomacy stuff but it's not what the game is "about". (Personally I'd say Warhammer 2 is the best Total War game and then Shogun 2/Three Kingdoms are tied for #2 but I have no idea how that opinion compares to the status quo)

Total War: Shogun 2 is still my favorite one. It's also the only one I stuck with, despite how much I wanted to like the Warhammer ones. Maybe the third will be the one?

I'm really inconsistent on Total War. I love 40k and Shogun, but bounced right the heck off most of the others. I know I like it enough that I'd enjoy the battle elements of Three Kingdoms, but the strategy elements and systematically conquering China is really what appeals to me. Does it do enough differently from Shogun 2 to be worth a look, or should I just re-install the latter?

Worms WMD felt kinda off, like the movement and weapons just didn't feel up to Armageddon. I really should try give it another shot, can't be any worse than the games that got rope physics wrong.

I know no man's sky has this, but are there fun payoffs for your time mining asteroids? Like is there a worthwhile incentive to do it beyond "I want to mine asteroids and catch up on Comedy Bang Bang"? I recently got a new gaming computer so a game that looks really pretty is a plus. Gonna recommend Starcom Nexus. Its more about rewarding exploration than economics and has a Star Control feel. Building your ship is simple, and the research tree lets you make some real monsters by the endgame.

Xander77 posted:The main game seems to be reasonably discounted, but I have an irrational hatred of buying a game without all the DLC (which are numerous and expensive). Which ones are worth it, if any? The DLC adds new start dates, new characters and every now and then one or two factions for the 'main' (i.e the most popular) start date. The Nanman DLC (Fury of the Wilds) is the only one that adds a wholly unique culture, the Yellow Turbans are technically a separate faction mechanically but not that far removed from the base Han factions IMO. A World Betrayed and Fates Divided add a bunch of characters to the Cao Cao and Yuan Shao factions as well as two new start dates so those provide the most variety. Mandate of Heaven sends you back to the start of the Yellow Turban Rebellion and it's a very ambitious scripted scenario that sadly tends to break more often than not. Stay away from Eight Princes and only buy Yellow Turban Rebellion if you want to play Yellow Turbans in the main start date (basically a hard mode faction where you cannot engage in meaningful diplomacy with Han factions). In general DLC is much less important for 3K than Warhammer - the most significant content updates came as part of the free patches. Omi no Kami posted:I'm really inconsistent on Total War. I loved me some Pirate Valkyrie Class IVs in EV: Nova. Very. You control one flagship in your fleet and it's a very popular choice to make that a fast frigate with some kind of movement special ability, since you'll be able to take advantage of that much better (and safer) than the AI can for your other ships.

Harvestella seems very good having played through most of spring so far. it is much simpler than rune factory 5 with very little to consider as far as crop placement, but the rest of the game outside of farming seems a lot better than RF5. money is scarce and getting profits feels very rewarding, at least at this stage.
