I caught a fighting Taurus and then used that bastard to fight a normal tera lvl 37 toxaplex I bumped into in the wild, wore it down and finally caught it… only to realise I can only control Pokémon up to lvl30. Then I went and used a random crabrawler I caught to smack the poo poo out of the crab Titan

Gonna give the fire star base a go with an ice tera floatzel I found, probably will eat poo poo until I go do the next couple of gyms but idk

PLA is a different beast. It's open world but you're more of a researcher in the field taking notes on Pokemon as opposed to battle centric. There are battles but they're way quicker.

A core feature is sneaking around throwing pokeballs at pokemon to catch them. Each dex entry is a series of research tasks like "evolve starly" or "see staraptor use brave bird."

It's set like 100 years before Diamond/Pearl events happened. No Pokedex (you're making it!), no computer box, etc.

PLA kicks rear end and I think it's funny people complain about the combat when there's like 2 trainers in the whole drat game. You'd think it would be obvious that battles aren't *really* the point but alas.

As for my things to check off, all that's left on the dex is:

Applin
Crabominiable
Torkal
Stonjorner (Exclusive)
Evolve funny reddit man

I'll need to reach out for Stonjorner but I'm kinda hoping tot touch trade the reddit goblin so I have a excuse to explore with the shiny charm as I get my own. (Is Gimmieghoul shiny locked btw?)

Gimmieghoul is shiny locked; if you get a eiscue use link code 0320 and that should give you someone trading a stonejourner. The rest can be found on the map (Applin requires ramming trees in Tagalog forest

Haha, very funny game. Not only did I not realize the E4 are the types of the Titans since they needed specialists of each type, not only did I get bamboozled by Larry despite having been spoiled, but also turns out the Super Champion is not a Rock type specialist!?

I still pushed through with the team, but man, I'm seeing the problems with Clodsire now. Also the fact tgat this gen is filled with lots of new Fire and Ghost types but barely any grass types kicked me for my starter choice.

If Maushold can be bred I can make some copies; I also got a six star fire Tauros I want to breed too.

No idea if it'd actually be any good or just a dumb gimmick, or if it even really fits in on a stall team, but if you just want to be the biggest rear end in a top hat might I suggest a Grafaiai to gently caress around with items? It's got access to switcheroo, thief, knock off, and fling, can run either a prankster or unburden set depending on what you want to do with the other moveslots, and since it's a poison type you can give it black sludge.

Jolly Ditto with max IVs are going to be super valuable for these guys.

Although if you have spare Ability Patches you could get any old Tandemaus in a Luxury Ball and use it on that. I think the HA can be passed down to potential offspring.

EDIT: I managed to catch a shiny Vivillon who was a bystander during EV training. I think several years ago it would have been impossible to get shiny Fancy pattern Vivillon, but here we are.

The entire team idea is based in being just a dumb gimmick tbh, so I'll put it on the consideration list. :v:

It was actually already low key on my radar because I had a match on Showdown today where it tried to Fling at my Farigiraf (blocked by Armor Tail), and turns out it was carrying a King's Rock for some sort of hosed up off brand Fake Out .

The catching pokemon is also bad and quickly goes from novel to tedious busy work of just flinging balls as you run around because you have to catch guys just to release to get stat growth.

So both the combat and catching is bad and the exploration.....that's also kind of nothing.

I missed the catching mechanics because I would prefer to throw a ball from a crouch than have to put up tiwth the laggy buggy combat of scarvo. And also PLA wouldn't stun lock me by having wild pokemon move to my location during combat so when the fight ended I already had spawned the next one.

Taking a step means pushing a button. So if that button was to open the menu it wouldn't be an encounter.

Anyone have suggestions on what kind of nature/set to use with scream tail? I'm leaning towards a physical one with bulk up because drain punch allows more consistent recovery. But stored power with calm mind is viable too. Let's be honest both are just trying to patch up it's crappy attack stat but handing it a life orb would probably make a world of difference.

This seems really odd to me, because as I was playing the game I kept encountering grass types that I wanted to use. I wound up using none of them because I wanted to keep using my starter, it's one of the main reasons I'm interested in doing another playthrough eventually.

You can catch a wild one. As soon as I put the bramblin in my party with resignation to do the walking around thing, I ran into an evolved brambleghast in the wild on the mountains by where all the bisharps live outside the fighting star base.

Now I have grass coverage without compromising on my dark/ghost aesthetics.

Yes I know weed cat would've been fine too but I didn't know that when I picked them (also didn't know my fire croc would also be allowed to stay on the team but that was a happy discovery)

I caught a five star brambleghast in a raid but honestly I pick my team very carefully way in advance and getting my hands on that would've just taken too long by my standards. Also I wanted to use Meowscarada in conjunction with my Quaquaval.
