That night we performed the rite and opened the gate.
Halfway through, I went to fix us both a coke float.
By the time I got back, he'd gone insane.
Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere.

I've been watching this for a couple days and I am trying real, real hard not to buy it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/334648103516

As some of you may know, I already have a '66 Bonneville - convertible - but this has been my fantasy DD for over thirty years (my Dad 's first new car was a '66 Catalina wagon). I've been wrenching on Pontiacs, particularly these B-bodies, about 32-years, so they are well-known to me..

The photos look great in general, especially for under five grand. There's some gnarly roof rust, but nothing I can't weld. It's complete; nothing I can't find or contract (like a new headliner). My chief concern is what I can't see & the seller is not posting: comprehensive shots of the underbody, especially the rear half. The gas tank's not operational, which leads me to believe it, or at least the piping out of the sending unit, is rusted - and if it is, a whole lotta real-estate around it is worse.

Thing is even if it's compete cheese under there, I could use a spare (well, another spare) Y-code 389 engine, TH400 trans and a factory air-conditioning set, along with a couple hundred hard-to-find or NLA parts.

I need another project like a hole in the head.

That car has corrosion in places I’ve only ever seen from salt-water immersion.

Based on the roof, cowl & front fender tops rust, my guess is that it sat within a mile or two of the ocean for several years with some / all of the windows partially open.

If you need me I'll be in Holodeck Four.
Condition wise it looks a lot like a Chevelle SS I’ve been helping disassemble. I was told it was stored for a long time in a carport (in Ontario). The back window leaked into the interior and it had similar looking water damage inside. The floors are pretty good except the section beneath the back seat where the water pooled and completely rusted it out. There was also major rodent damage, there was a nest made of seat stuffing behind the speedometer!

Maybe the wagon’s big back windows have rusted channels or it’s leaking in where the luggage rack is bolted to roof.

Now why would we do that?

That is some rust on the roof. Originally a vinyl top, or is it rusting from the inside from trapped condensation like the sunroof on my RX-7 I parked for way too long?

edit: also can confirm that parking leaking door seals and a hole or two rusted in the cowl can rust a floorboard almost as well as salt up north.

What 'til you discover what a pun the original Japanese title of Speed Racer is...

...bugger.

OK, still needs a little explanation. The car is the "Mach 5" - "Mach Go" - of course. "Speed" is Go Mifune in the Japanese. So it's Mach Go, Go (Mifune), GO! (as in the English for git gone.)

Also, the English version has better noises for the Mach V in the title. It's supposed to be a V12 - the Japanese opening sounds like maybe an inline 6. Maybe.

Its probably a 2000GT. the anime and the car debuted in the same year.

Got some seat time in this today. Interior is as cramped as you'd expect, and your seating position is angled towards the center-line of the car. Feels really squirmish when driving, which I think is likely down to the stupidly short wheelbase, but holy hell the induction noise in the cabin when you roll into the throttle and get some load on the engine is god tier.
