"Gee your honor, can I have the same allowance I had before the trials? I pwomise I won't call mass-shooting hoaxes anymore and I'll stop calling judges tools of the deep state. Honest!" I hope the judge reduces the amount he's allowed just for the nerve of even asking. Fucker hasn't learned anything.

Things like your primary residence or enough income to live on are protected. The amount he's being allowed to be paid is way too high though.
|

Yeah, though nothing says you get a right to live well, either.

All this is extremely fact dependent and we'll see what the bankruptcy court does, and also state rules may come into play. Lots of people in Florida living in mansions because bankruptcy protects the primary residence no matter the value.

Remember, it's Alex Jones. If he manages to get a bigger salary (and he probably will, but probably not what he's asking for,) he'll just spend it on stupid poo poo or put it into some ponzi grift like his "whiskey" company. He's not going to be smart and put it all in some well-protected estate that can't be touched by the impending judgments, he's far too dumb and impulsive for that. And it's not like he's got any good lawyers left to advise him.

Remember that the bankruptcy court is already holding the purse strings so there's no rush while things get sorted. Also the judgments aren't final, so they can't collect anyway, the most that the CT judge is allowing is a freeze of the defendants' assets so they can't be dissipated -- but that's somewhat redundant in light of the bankruptcy.

Yeah, there's no way the $1.3 million salary is to stash away money for investments. It's purely to fund a lifestyle.

The bankruptcy taking time is good because that time is being used by the trustee and their team to go through all of Alex's poo poo looking for fraud, which I'm going to say there's an approximately 1000% chance he's done some fraud. And fraud in bankruptcy cases is Big loving poo poo that gets prosecuted. I believe that also is criminal law instead of civil, so the possibility of us all watching Alex go to jail becomes real.

Is there anything stopping someone from buying their debt for the pennies-on-the-dollar amount when it gets sold off, or do the people/companies owed money normally contact a debt collector service first and then it's sold to said service?
