It’s based on a book who’s synopsis is available on Wikipedia. Doesn’t seem like something I’d enjoy even before M Night got his hands on it.

It's based on Paul Tremblay's The Cabin At The End Of The World, which was a good book. Not the kind that I would have expected to see as a movie, but hey, when it comes to streaming, I'll be there.

We watched it in 9th grade English. I was shocked years later to find out they let a 15 year old do a nude scene even if you only ever see anything for a second or two.

There's a lot of this type of chicken coming home to roost recently: there was a recent reunion interview with Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins over "Blue Lagoon" where they described filming being uncomfortable and the producers trying to "encourage" an off-screen romance between the then 14yo Shields and 18yo Atkins.

And that was far from the first time she was sexualized in a way which people should do jail time for

Blue Lagoon also had the dolphin trainer serve as Brooke Shields’ body double for all nudity, something the dolphin trainer was not told she would be doing until she arrived on location and couldn’t leave.

muscles like this! posted:Apparently the studio isn't doing much to highlight the fact that it is an adaptation. I could see part of that could just be because shyamalan movies are known for their "twists", and if people know it's an adaptation than the advertisers might think that will turn people off it, as the twist is already a known thing. That or more likely they just thought the name original source material wasn't going to be a draw.

I didn't read the graphic novel Old was adapted from, but I assume that it did not end in the stupid as hell way that the film did.
