The Republicans aren't so aligned; even back in the tea party period, a number of pols were genuinely ideologically motivated and/or beholden largely to either a local business constituency or a local voterbase, either of which could be completely brainpoisoned and out of touch with broader common party interests. To put it differently, if there were truly a common set of party "owners" this never would have happened in the first place.

The 20 no votes aren't acting this way because somebody is paying them to, that really is the way they are. If they had a set of "owners" who could make them fall in line behind a speaker candidate, they would be voting for McCarthy.

The thing is its funnier and entirely possible that they do means Arthas because (a) Enough Republicans are ~~young~~old enough and gamers for that to be their point of reference and (b) Republicans frequently love to self-identity themselves with the worst villains of popular media i.e Thanos "snapping" away Democrats etc because they don't critically understand or engage with any kind of art or popular media.
