The idea is definitely to put them on slow, bulky characters who aren't likely to be doubling anyway, but they sound like they're gonna be less and less effective as the difficulty goes up where enemies hit harder and 20+ Mt won't be enough to one-shot anymore

Have an ally Break an enemy then hit them with a heavy weapon to do a second Break?

There is always merit in position management, but it does seem limited in its applicability. There's got to be at least one map where the LTC requires positioning yourself so that you're Smashed in the right direction

Chainsaw Man is very inspired by Western media so it's not really what I would call the average anime, but anyone playing the anime-rear end game posting in the anime-rear end game thread probably doesn't belong that subset of goons. You can just say "I don't like this style." You don't need to twist around how anime it is or the ethics of making everyone look young and an appealing design. Overreasoning opinions is how you end up with such brainrot takes as "Steven Universe was made by Nazi pedophiles".

My only real critique is that the cast looks kinda sameface-y with a few exceptions (Vander, Ivy, Diamant) but eh, it's not a deal breaker. The vibrant colours and AA are crisp and game looks great

im probably def wrong but it feels like there has been a substantially smaller focus on this game compared to 3 Houses. I remember seeing vids and previews for 3H in every drat Direct but unless they've been releasing videos individually I can't recall a single thing they've shown for this one.

There are a lot more videos on the JP side of things though, it's NoA that seems to be kind of quiet on it.

Well uh the latest big Nintendo Direct was the one in which this game was announced. There's been one-two trailers since then but yeah if you haven't been following along you wouldn't really have seen much. The game itself has has way more preorders than Three Houses did so it's doing something right somewhere in the world!

the only directs nintendo's done since this game's announcement have both been entirely about the super mario brothers movie. this game has a much shorter turnaround from announcement to release and directs are a smaller part of nintendo's marketing these days. they're posting a ton of videos to their youtube and nintendo's japanese twitter has been posting clips of the game every few days. there's posters and commercials for it in japan, too. mika pikazo, the game's artist, also had a big art exhibit in tokyo that included some promotional art from this game. three houses didn't really get any casual marketing to western audiences either, it just had a longer dev time and nintendo did more directs back then so it had more chances to show up. It's probably also a little reflective of reception. 3H came off Fates which ultimately had a mixed reception after initially strong reviews. So I think Nintendo consciously felt they needed to do more to energise the fanbase over a new game. Engage comes off 3H which remains wildly popular and there's no system transition. So you have more latitude to count on the people who bought an enjoyed 3H to buy into this game.

WAR IS IMMINENT (war does not happen for half the game,) literally no mention of the teacher/academy premise, no mention of character stuff, a lady doing a bad impression of professor mcgonagall, trying to sell the game as a hardcore tactical challenge.
