Home run robberies are the most exciting defensive play in baseball so lowering wall heights to further facilitate that is good.

Comerica has always had a goofy deep dead center field so I guess this is fine.

412ft is still very deep, if you hit a ball 405ft and it's a warning track shot that's rough.

There should be a stadium with reverse field dimensions where the corners are 400ft and center field is 330ft. Reward hitters who drive the ball up the middle and punish pull only power hitters.

would be hilarious to see all the inside the parkers after the ball hits the wall and skips into the corner

More aesthetically pleasing: moonshot homeruns that go super high or line drive homeruns that get into the seats before you can blink?

I'm a moonshot fan myself, you can admire it for a long time

Best of both worlds: Stanton line drives that go 415 feet somehow

Oh moonshots for sure.

Fun fact, moonshots have come to mean absolute bombs but they were originally the opposite, named after Wally Moon who was traded to the Dodgers in 1959. He was worried about playing in the Colosseum because he was a lefty and the RF wall was FOUR FORTY but left was only two fifty. So he worked with Stan the Man to adjust his stance for better opposite field "power" and became known for towering wallscrapers over that short rear end porch and such homers became known as moon shots. Over time the term changed because it makes more sense and no one knows who Wally Moon is anymore.

I would guess because moving a runner over from 2nd -> 3rd is difficult to do and usually requires a fast runner on 2b and a sufficiently deep fly ball and the idea is you probably aren't doing that on purpose as it's usually of limited value without the run scoring.

Opening day is probably

C: Stassi unless O'Hoppe had a great off-season
1B: Walsh but Urshela will get plenty of reps
2B: Rengifo?
3B: Rendon until he breaks his hand in spring training
SS: Fletcher?
OF: Trout, Renfroe, Ward
DH: Ohtani

The outfield is set but that infield is going to be a huge rotation of Rengifo/Fletcher/Walsh/Urshela/Rendon/Drury with Soto/Velasquez on the taxi squad and maybe a late season appearance by Neto.

They love the poo poo out of Rengifo for some reason, but then why sign Drury?

You field balls that are deeper through the infield and your momentum carries you away from first base more often

I've been shamefully operating my whole life thinking that a sac fly can advance a runner to third if there are less than 2 outs after the play.

3rd base was once considered the easiest infield positions to play by MLB players because they felt it was just a reaction position.
