Mister Speaker posted:I might have asked this before, but realistically how many able-bodied adults do you think it would take to lift and flip over the average car? Just something I've thought about, seeing photos of cars parked in bike lanes or sidewalks or otherwise inappropriate spots; how funny it would be to invert the situation (quite literally) and make it into a serious problem for the driver. They do it in France a lot, look up protest videos and you'll probably get your answer

People in this county are shouting down a ~$400m expansion of a dedicated busway out to the east end of the county as "not worth the money" at the same time we're spending $1.3b to add eight miles to an expressway in the southeast that was planned in the 1980s and serves nobody now. This poo poo is so exhausting. https://triblive.com/local/south-hills/1-3b-expansion-of-mon-fayette-expressway-to-begin-soon-pa-turnpike-commission-says/ https://www.pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/port-authority-gets-federal-money-to-look-at-extending-east-busway/Content?oid=21004611

https://twitter.com/rahsh33m/status/1614094604944527361?s=46&t=9uSEdjoDYGhmgiApFco_Cw the amount of commenters blaming the pedestrian for allegedly jaywalking when they clearly have the signal in the video is astounding.

Most carbrain barely know how a stoplight works, let alone a walk signal.

I love my NJ crosswalk buttons that blare out "WARNING LIGHTS ACTIVATED. VEHICLES MAY NOT STOP." right next to the sign reminding drivers of the state law that pedestrians always have right of way.

a pedestrian was just killed here. turns out having a freeway exit right onto a PARKWAY is incredibly dangerous

Cities should not have freeways at all, let alone freeway exits. If carbrain insists on a freeway exit, it should be one of those exits if you speed through it your car smashes into a brick wall like the I-5 in Seattle. https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/uios7z/people_fucking_up_at_this_exit/

My state senator (Rebecca Saldana in South King County, Washington) is pushing a bill to legalize jaywalking. I'm definitely here for it.

The hellscape I get to cross almost daily now after my office moved: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.6455473,-79.3698014,3a,75y,332.92h,89.55t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1shnCOIEfkOoOj3wsgRVIyUA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 6 lane "boulevard" generally used by drivers who think the expressway directly above isn't moving fast enough. And of course the MUP I used to ride regularly has been torn up for minimum 3 more years as the city spends $1 billion+ rehabilitating/"reconfiguring" aforementioned expressway. Just pissed today because drivers decided to just not let pedestrians cross and continued making right hand turns. I think it's literally the worst car-centric part of "old Toronto", but it's a whole other hellscape connecting to suburbia.

The latest NotJustBikes video doesn't say anything new, but I like how he uses the old car propaganda movie to illustrate how cars and highways are actually quite antiquated, tried-and-failed technology. Like we're all insisting on using newer and fancier radios even though the television has been invented. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n94-_yE4IeU

Ah, but have you guys considered that driving a car actually has a lower carbon footprint than riding a bike?
