Oh fun. So everyone knows about Check kiting, but apparently a trader last week used ACH kiting (when you transfer money between banks it uses the automated clearing house network, which adds funds more or less instantaneously but really it takes 3 days to clear like with checks). So anyway, this trader kited between a ton of different accounts and then executed a bunch of trades using that funds. Days later, BoA fails to clear the checks, they all bounce back and the firm tries to undo all the trades but said trader lost about $3m on them. Womp womp.
