i find the hardest times to be the first ~week of the new season, followed by any weekend. competition feels much stronger and the decks i go against are stronger too

The variance of this does suck, but it happens in every deck that very much so relies on one integral card. Patriot will never come up in Patriot decks, Surfer won’t show in Surfer decks, Sera will always be missing. Some kinda nonsense. I really think this game would benefit from a fake “reshuffle your deck” button. I know it’s a computer program and doesn’t need to do this but I swear to god it feels like my deck needs to be reshuffled sometimes.

And it’s actually doing better than I thought. The Mystique is for two Morbii. Collector has been doing alright w/ Apoc + Swarm interactions. If I had Dracula I’d 1000% put him in there. I do have Helicarrier and may try that in place of the Chavez or the Gambit (which is kind of weak unless you have a Wong).

It’s not MAXXXX SYNERGY but like I said, no Hela, no invisible woman, no hell cow, no Dracula… you gotta make work what you can.

Yea I just played a round with it and see the apoc synergy and featured location which my opponent helpfully showed me with a last play hobgoblin

I love how this game can make you feel so loving bad at everything so easily. Decide "ok fine, nothing else is working, lemme try and mess around with MODOK" and instantly the game decides to pair with me Widow/junk players and/or bullshit locations like dream dimension and loving Weirdworld. I've seen Weirdworld more times this morning than I did all last season, not even kidding. I've seen it in 5 different matches just today. Game absolutely doesn't want me out of the 30s.

OK, this is interesting, because here's my incomplete MODOK list: [1] Iceman - Turn 1 play, good disruption card. [1] Sunspot - You float a good amount of mana with this deck. [2] Morbius - Discard synergy - core. [2] Wolverine - Free 4 power when MODOK goes off. Can also be discarded by Colleen in a pinch so she's out of your hand safely. [2] Swarm - Discard synergy - core. [3] Moon Knight - It's a discard and it annoys your opponent, similar to your Gambit. Just don't discard your MODOK! [3] Lady Sif - Discard synergy. Powers up your Apocalypse. [4] Dracula - Discard synergy. Combines with Apocalypse and America Chavez to get two big bodies at end of game. [5] MODOK - He does what you think he does. Core. [6] Apocalypse - Once Modok does his job, he'll be the only one left (plus Swarms). [6] America Chavez - Bringing the all-american cheese once the dust has settled. Play one of her and Apoc on turn 6, and Drac plays the other. It's most interesting where our lists differ, counting Moon Knight and Gambit as having similar roles. I have Wolverine as a second 2-drop and you have The Collector - which may be better with the current featured location, though I think it might be a little trickier to use once that wears off. But the main other difference is that you add one more discard (Sword Master) where I've added more disruption (Iceman). I think this is the flex slot where Mystique could go, honestly. It's an interesting suggestion. Less risk of hosing Colleen and greater chance of a high-roll with Morbius, as long as there's enough discards.

I rarely touched my discard deck until I had MODOK for that reason. Blade & Sword Master always seemed to pick the one card I wanted them to avoid. It's also why Ghost Rider & Hela feel broken, they remove the unlucky RNG factor by bringing all your cards back.

One nice thing about this MODOK deck, and is unusual for a discard deck I think, is that it's easy to see when to snap. It's best to snap before turn 5 and I'm finding that if I have MODOK and Swarm in hand I can snap pretty quickly.
