Well sure if he can afford home surveillance he can afford to re-reg. But he had a point. I mean, internet dog piles, probations... that which is necessary (or unavoidable) does not offend. But a ban linking to that post is a bad look. I'd drop litigating this if it were explained.

"I demand to be unbanned from D&D so I can continue doing the same kind of posting in dadchat that got me forum-banned from D&D" is not a very good argument, and I gave them a 6er reminder. They posted they knew they were inviting a ban.

If they wanna nonstop own the libs and fantasize about executing D&D posters in the coming revolution they can do it somewhere that isn't D&D.

That posting doesn't bring anything of interest or value to this thread or a hypothetical USPol successor.

edit: I'd also note that posters who end up forum-banned from D&D don't have a great track record of not being absolute psychos elsewhere and many of them are now perma'd for being lunatics in CSPAM etc. It takes an awful lot of bad posting over an extended period of time to get booted.

for example did you know that "land grant" universities means those colleges were "granted" a bunch of stolen native land?

and that the universities "granted" land in 1862 who were already in the "settled" eastern part of the US were just randomly given a bunch of indigenous land in like loving California?

like Cornell in NY has land all over the loving place https://www.landgrabu.org/universities

i did recently get to attend a workshop on cultural burning practices, and the tacos a community member was putting together were incredibly good. and i learned from an incredibly old man why expectant mothers shouldn't drink white sage tea

I second. The chair should now state the question to open debate on the motion. I think that would be Koos. Koos, this would be chapter five, section 10, and you're going to want to consider this under the rules for an incidental main motion.

Robert's Rules Of Order would bring much needed order to the Debate And Discussion subforum of SomethingAwful.com, while simultaneously making all posting extremely tedious. Furthermore, this would be very funny for approximately 8 hours and allow the mods to grant 6 hour long probations to a majority of active posters in the aforementioned subforum. In my estimation, this has a 14.2% chance of killing the 12,846th worst extant website if enforced long term.

Thank you for your comment. The chair neither confirms nor denies whether they'd considered this exercise as an excuse to 6er a bunch of posters. The chair is also an idiot and will not bother to read Robert's Rules unless directly cited or as is entertaining. Thus, Robert's Rules will be enforced selectively and capriciously unless/until a day or so or I get tired of this.

I would currently oppose use of the Rules in the forums; they're designed entirely for contemporaneous, verbal proceedings and are ill-suited to the forums medium. Any use of the Rules would require extensive revisions, and while I do have a modified ruleset that could be further adapted for Something Awful's use, I think the time investment would be better applied elsewhere. Additionally, a significant debate would immediately ensue about which edition of the Rules to use. Setting aside the scrublord "in brief" editions for dummies, there's a lot of controversy about changes in the 10th edition that have moved forward since the schism with the 7th edition in 1970. The full 12th edition is also relatively expensive and is arguably an inappropriate cost to expect many users to read.

However, in the event that the forum does choose to move to the Rules, I have a set of extensively annotated editions I can send to moderators as needed. I do have a personal copy of the 10th edition that I've modified and cut down for civic meetings which may be appropriate for public moderation deliberations.

I have an alternative proposal involving a merged Argdown and Loomio concept I developed a while back for the Nebraska unicameral, but I'll wait for a separate motion for that to be considered.

it was a great experience. it's always almost sobering when i am reminded that there is so much overlap between the natural resources in our landscape and the local native communities

in fact it's almost strange to me how the deep relationship between native peoples and the land is repeated so often in our society that it's essentially almost a racist trope in mainstream media, yet even for its ubiquity it's not something i really began to internalize until a site walk in which a cultural specialist and i both raised concerns about preserving the same patch of wildflowers. for me it was about maintaining what little native plant cover there was in a sea of non-native grasses, for them it was because the bulb of the flower was a staple food for the local tribe and this patch was important context because it was very close to the footprint of an old village site

there was much good conversation about the prevailing fear of fire, how that prevents the work that needs to happen, and how various members of the tribe see things differently

also some excellent points about the imperialist aspect of existing policy. some good discussion on the fact that one of the first acts the spanish put into effect in southern california was a ban on burning. also someone called a calfire official a militarized colonizer to his face, so just lots of fun all around
