Eh, it's got 3.5" of ground clearance if Google is to be believed for 2018 model at least.

We should also consider that we're not arguing about off-roading without damage. Momentum will get you a lot of places where you shouldn't, and a gt3 can definitely build momentum.

Reddit: Mazda collects your driving habits and use it against you for warranty claim posted:

I purchased a CX50 Turbo Premium Plus back in September 2022. After several out of state road trips and daily commuting, the car has over 9700 miles on it currently. During my daily commute, I sometimes keep it in sport mode for 23 miles and enjoy a little more fun driving experience.

However, I started to notice that the vehicle keeps alerting me that it's low on oil every 1-2K miles. I thought maybe I broke it by using sport mode daily so I stopped using this completely. Took it to the dealership and the service advisor is having me do a oil consumption test. The engine has failed after 900 miles during the test. Dealership foreman has started a warranty claim with Mazda and Mazda denied the warranty citing "abnormal driving behavior".

Service advisor asked me why I keep driving in sport mode because mazda got back with diagnostics data that the vehicle reports over LTE and said the RPM was kept between 2500-3600 which is quite high for going 80 mph thus overheating the vehicle. I was furious and asked why the vehicle is reporting back how I drive to Mazda. Service advisor pulled up a Mazda Connect Default Data collection privacy policy and said Mazda collects your location, speed, transmission gear, oil temp.etc and reports back every 5s over cellular network.

I get that I use sport mode quite a bit. I am not denying that but how can this data collection I wasn't even aware of be used against me?

My BMW will just stick in 6th or 7th gear instead of going up to 8th on the highway in sport mode.

I'm getting old and boring and never use it because of this. It's fun to get up to speed, but then it just wastes gas as I'm cruising at a constant speed in a straight line on the highway.

I am glad the car has an option for sport mode to only tighten up the suspension and leave the engine/transmission settings the same.

It will go into 8th in Sport Mode, but you have to go really, really fast for that to happen. Certainly illegal outside of an unrestricted autobahn.

That's lawsuit territory. The feature is there. If you don't want me to use it, then don't have it, simple as that. Denying warranty for using a feature that the care is equipped with is asinine.

Also, the Porsche GT3 guy is the rear end in a top hat, and probably a Himbo.

Indeed, but the reason I mentioned it is because for quite some time the prevailing belief was that Sport Mode locked out the 8th gear. It wasn’t until some people were on the autobahn and found that it eventually does change up, it’s just that Sport Mode holds onto the 7th gear just as much as the prior 6, and most people never get to go fast enough.

I find Sport Mode really useful for country roads constantly having inclines and declines, but for everything else it just makes you feel faster but burns a ton of extra fuel in the process.

Maybe carbon fiber is a preferable material in those conditions.

That's my problem, I put it on sport to enjoy a single onramp, then forget it on for the next 100 klicks. Why can't it use the highest gear when I'm driving a constant speed, just downshift if I put any extra pressure on the pedal. Then I might even notice I'm on sport.

Of all the unrealistic parts, the 911 GT3 and Camry sharing a garage is not one of them. Just glance around AI a little and you'll find we're a crazy bunch with wildly varied garages.

On that note, this can either be terrible or great, have some 911 GT3's offroading:

Yeah it also makes total sense if you're minmaxing.

One car is powerful, expensive, flashy, noisy, uncomfortable, demanding, meant for going extremely fast around a racetrack and nothing else.

The other car is very comfortable, very quiet, basically maintenance-free, totally unassuming, incredibly easy to drive, just an appliance that gets you from A to B with the absolute minimum of fuss.

Anything in between will just perform worse than the GT3 and be more of a pain than the Camry. It's a good pairing
