for all you can say about this type of talk creating drama rather than discussing it I think it's still valuable because often problems do not get fixed unless someone is able to discuss it with their friends and find out others feel the same way. :thanks:

Like I have seen all sorts of instances where psychos who absolutely everyone hates run around for years because someone assumes someone else will do something about it, or it's just the "way things are", and nobody actually brings it up. This is why it's important that any QCS replacement be open discussion instead of being restricted to user/mod or whatever. Thank you.

I don't mean to be backseat psychiatrist but I feel like fluffdaddy, and a lot of the admins really don't respond to conflict well, especially when it's a bunch of people yelling at once (which is intimidating and frustrating, i get it. The structure of power here prolly has an added effect of wanting to show to the other mods/admins who aren't getting yelled at that you're not a pushover, which i feel is what drives a Lot of the escalation)

but at the same time if you're gonna administrate a forum, you have to be able to handle that stuff and not let it tilt you

like really, please just post, say stuff, don't shut discussion down when the entire community wants to have the discussion. don't ignore it.
engage with people, they will get less mad if y'all do. people are mad mainly because you're not. you don't have to address every single concern at the same time, you don't have to get the thread "finished" in one sitting, just fucken post

like, look at how the astral thing went, once astral posted and interacted with people and stopped banning, people mellowed out quite a lot, really fast.

people like rhino as a mod because no one has to wonder why they did something, if someone gets probated or banned it's really clear why, if it's a mistake or something a bunch of people disagree with, they're able to casually discuss it with them and find a solution that works for everyone + probe/bans aren't the only interaction people have with them, because they're active in the community, the same way any random user would be - that's the secret trick. that's all there is to it. be part of the community you are stewarding, or don't be the steward.

I do find myself becoming less sympathetic towards people using r-slurs, posting suggestions of suicide, mocking peoples weight and appearance, and just generally being crass shitheads definitely earning their time off. Theyre really not helping anyone with anything regarding open communication and peace between mods and posters.
